Unfortunately we have seen a few issues with vandalism in the recreation field (park). Benches have been targeted, the park toilets have been left in a mess and the childrens play park, specifically the plastic dome over the tunnel was smashed. It has been covered with plywood to make it safe but it looks like it will cost circa £1000 to replace.

Benches, children's play equipment, toilets and many other assets belong to you, Parishioners (managed via the Parish Council), meaning a very small % of your council tax has to fund replacements.

With that said, may we ask all Parishioners to remain vigilant and if you witness acts of vandalism, please contact the Police on their non-emergency number (101) and if something has been damaged, please contact the Parish Council via email:

The Parish Council have received a number of complaints about parked cars on pavements.

We appreciate its a busy time of year with tourists but if you have visitors to your home from friends and family, belong to a Club, run an Airbnb or other, can you help spread the word so drivers that park in the village remain considerate to people using the pavements, this of course especially applies to people with disabilities, parents with pushchairs, visually impaired and so on.

Please help make the village safe for Parishioners and visitors to walk freely on the pavements :-)

The Stoke Fleming Parish Council is pleased to announce the reopening of the public toilets on School Road as of tomorrow.

The public toilets on School Road had become an eyesore in the village since their closure by South Hams District Council several years ago and when it became apparent that South Hams District Council had no intention of reopening the toilet block (as with many others across the South Hams), the Parish Council engaged with the District Council. Thankfully, South Hams District Council offered the toilet block to us, effectively signing them over meaning the block would become an asset for the Parish Council. Before making the decision to acquire the toilet block, Stoke Fleming Parish Council carried out a thorough analysis of running costs, small refurbishments costs and importantly, Councillors engaged with Parishioners around the village to understand if there was a consensus people wanted to keep them. Feedback was very positive, parents explained that sometimes their children would need the toilet on their way up to school, people also felt they were important from a tourism perspective with walkers regularly passing through the village. After feedback was collected, running and refurbishment costs evaluated and the fact the building and plot has financial value, the Parish Council voted in favour of taking the block from the District Council.

Once the legalities had been finalised and the toilet block was officially made an asset of Stoke Fleming Parish Council, the Parish Councillors have invested much more of their own personal time to get the toilets to a condition they could be reopened. This included cutting back trees and shrubs, power washing the building, sweeping around, clearing guttering, arranging plumbers, electricians, painting, deep cleaning, administrative tasks and more.

The Stoke Fleming Parish Council would like to express thanks and gratitude to Simon Hawke (Plumber), Andy Hawkins (Electrician), Keith & Chris Ellis (Painters), Alan & Georgie The Green Dragon pub and Heavitree for their donation of paint.

Finally, I would like to thank the Parish Council Chairman David Harris, the Parish Clerk and all other Councillors for their voluntary and continuous effort and support on this project.

Happy peeing and pooing!

Today I have bagged up and removed rabbit guards from within the park. As you may have seen, some rabbit guards have been broken due to becoming brittle and hit (primarily behind the basketball court). It would be appreciated if any parishioners that come across any discarded plastic can help pick up and pop in a bin please.

Thank you.

Several days ago four parish councillors and a local parishioner planted new trees in the park.

The trees are native species, Downy Birch and Hornbeam supplied by DWT added to Stoke Flemings biodiversity area to replace mature trees felled after storm damage in 2024.
