A message from Diocese of Durham

The Installation of the Right Reverend Rick Simpson as our Bishop of Durham takes place at Durham Cathedral at 3pm tomorrow (Sunday 7 June). In 325, the Nicene Creed was adopted by the first Council of Nicaea - a summary of our core Christian beliefs.
1700 years later, we're beginning a sermon series to explore this Creed and look at it afresh for what it can teach us today.

We'll miss you Mark!

The Bishop of Durham announces that Revd Mark East will retire from his post as Vicar of St Andrew's Church, Haughton-Le-Skerne and Sadberge St Andrew on 31 August 2026. Bishop Rick would like to thank Mark for all the different ways in which he has served in ministry over the years, including as Area Dean of Darlington, and wishes him a long and happy retirement 🎉

St Andrew's Parochial Church Council (PCC) for 2026-2027 have been nominated and accepted at our Annual Church Meeting. We have had our first meeting of this new PCC, discussing the business of the church. If you've got any questions or would like to discuss anything connected to St Andrew's, please do chat to one of us and we will do our best to help.

This week, the fabulous gardeners are removing the old plants from Haughton War Memorial, ready for preparation for new planting. If you'd like to take some of the old plants, please do! Just pop along with a container and a trowel and help yourself. They will continue to thrive.
