All Saints, Hurworth

Yesterday our vicar, Anthony Smith, was involved in a ceremony greeting the new Bishop of Durham, Rick Simpson, on the riverbank in Hurworth, which was followed by a reception in Middleton St George. We pray for Bishop Rick as he begins his public ministry with a service tomorrow at 3pm in Durham Cathedral. (You can watch the service on Durham Cathedral's YouTube channel.)

Earlier today, Friday 5 June, a special ceremony took place on the banks of the River Tees. The Rt Revd Rick Simpson was greeted by civic dignitaries and members of the public as he takes up the role of Bishop of Durham.

Our sister church in Low Dinsdale has regular services on the 3rd Sunday morning and the 4th Sunday afternoon, and the next service will be Evening Prayer this Sunday, 26 April, at 4pm. (Our apologies for missing that out in the April edition of the Riverside Parishes newsletter.) The combined Annual Meeting for Low Dinsdale and Girsby churches takes place the following evening, on Monday 27 April, at 7pm, at the Girsby and Over Dinsdale Village Hall. All are welcome! Just over two weeks to go until we start The Bible Course!

Whether you're exploring the Bible for the first time, or whether you've been reading it for years, this course will help you to understand how the Bible fits together, and to apply it to your daily life.

We'll be running the course in two parallel sessions:

(1) Daytimes (10.30-12) at All Saints Church, Hurworth
