Due to a SEVERE ALLERGY within the group, we need to request that no one eats banana immediately before attending Mayfield Girls' Brigade.
Please do not bring any bananas with you when dropping off or collecting the girls.
We need to maintain a banana free zone.
Thank you for your help keeping all of our members safe and healthy.

Today, thousands of young people across Scotland are waiting for their exam results.

Anxiety, hope, fear and so many other emotions will be running high today! Scared that they don’t get the grades they need for a particular course or elated when they do. Some are scared they are letting their families and friends down if they don’t get good results. Others may get a pleasant surprise and have done better than they anticipated. The list goes on…

But, no matter what the results are it is so important to know they do not define who you are. God has a plan for all of us and while that may not seem clear today it will work out. God loves you for who you are.

So, congratulations to those who have done well today. We hope they will enjoy their success but also be able to reach out and comfort their friends who have not been so fortunate.

To those who didn’t get the results they wanted, remember that there will be other opportunities and options available. Be kind and share the joy of friends who’ve done well also.

God does not define us by exam results so neither should we!

We have attached some contact numbers and websites that people might be looking for today, as the image.

A letter from our Chaplain.

Dear Member of our Parish.

On 14th of June the Church is launching our giving week where we ask members of our parish to make a donation to the running costs of the church. Parish churches have long been a feature of our towns and villages, but unfortunately with reductions in numbers of people attending, there is a corresponding reduction in our monthly income. This places the long-term future of the church in jeopardy, as without donations and offerings we cannot continue to function.

Just as the cost of living crisis has hit many individuals hard, it has also hit the church, especially when it comes to utility costs for running our buildings. For example, in December our electricity for heating our Newtongrange building for use on a Sunday was well over £1000 for one month. Currently the money we receive each month through offerings does not match our expenditure.

So if you enjoy having the church as part of your village then I would urge you to consider making a donation to us during our giving week. Your gift will go towards our on-going costs and will ensure that the church is there to support our community going forward.
The church is not just a Sunday thing, we are a part of your community and have various outreach that run throughout the week. These activities provide both practical and spiritual support, friendship and comfort to anyone who wishes it.

Throughout the week we will share the many ways in which you can give to us during our giving week, as well as how to gift aid your donation to ensure we get the maximum from it. Our church currently survives through the extremely generous attitude of those who attend week in week out, giving both of time and money, and we want to say a huge thank you to all of these people! It may seem cheeky to ask those who already give, to give more, however this is the situation that we find ourselves in.

We need more people to support their local church, because without it then in the future there will be no local church. Please consider giving us a donation during the week of giving, but also consider supporting us by attending our events and become part of the worshipping community. Please consider this a personal invitation to come along and see what it is we do.

With my best wishes,
Rev Christopher Watt

What is Messy Church?

Messy Church is designed for families to come and learn about Jesus out with our normal Sunday morning Worship.
Its especially aimed at Children with there being lots of craft activities.

How messy is messy?
It doesn’t need to be messy. We have crafts aimed at all different ages, from food crafts to drawing and colouring to making models etc. We have space for our parents to sit and get a well deserved cuppa break as well a chance to sit and chat while the kids have fun.

Is it a church service?
Not in the traditional sense no. Our format is that we do crafts on a theme for about an hour and then we all sit and have a meal together. After we have had food we then learn a fun action song and hear a story from the bible.

Does it cost?
No this is entirely free of charge for both adults and children

Can I leave my children?
No, Messy Church requires that all children are accompanied by an adult, the idea is that the whole family get involved.

Do I have to let you know that I’m coming?
No please just come when you are able.
