Around 7.50pm on Saturday, 2 August 2025, we were called to a fire at St Mungo's Church, St Mungo's Road, Cumbernauld.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service is in attendance. The church is well-ablaze, so as a precaution a number of premises in the street have been evacuated.

Due to the volume of smoke from the fire, we are advising people to avoid the area and for residents in nearby Cumbernauld Town Centre and in the Seafar area to, if possible, stay indoors and to keep your windows and doors closed until further notice.

Enquiries into the cause of the fire are continuing.

A reminder that the community singing group Arria Voices are holding a Christmas Concert on Wednesday 18th December at 7.30pm in Cumbernauld Trinity church. Entry is by voluntary donation and it would be lovely to see everyone along to enjoy the music, songs, Christmas Carols and refreshments together.
