DTS Testimony Time!

The gifts of the wise men speak of who Jesus is.

Gold for his royalty, frankincense for his divinity, myrrh for his humanity.

Gold is an expensive metal pointing to Jesus as the King of Kings. Frankincense is a perfume used in temple worship. It points to Christ as our High Priest, a holy divinity. Finally, myrrh. It is actually a rather inappropriate gift in the circumstance as it is used to embalm a body for burial, not a good gift for an infant nor a king. However, it turns out to be a rather appropriate gift for Jesus.

The wise men laid their gifts at Jesus’ feet and then they bowed down and they worshipped him.

Are we willing to bow down, lay down what is precious to us and offer them to the one who died for us?

Consider this ultimate Christmas gift: the gift of Jesus coming into the world for you—to give you new life in Him. What present could possibly compare to God Himself, the King of Kings, coming to the world and dying for your sake?

Outdoor worship!

Last week we wrapped up warm and put on our wellies! It was such a joy to take our instruments outside and worship in our local countryside.

As YWAM Holmsted Manor, we love coming together to worship and praise God! Not only is it part of the rhythms of our community, but we also love to bring it into different aspects of our week. We want to be a people whose whole lives are worshipful to Jesus.

Last week we wrapped up warm and put on our wellies! It was such a joy to take our instruments outside and worship in our local countryside.

Weekends can be a difficult and lonely time on the streets, and so the Crossover ministry provides an early morning breakfast on Saturdays and Sundays from 8 am - 9 am in Brighton city centre. It’s aimed at supporting those who are either sleeping rough or inadequately housed.

Last week, we had a bit of a change-up in our rhythm here at Holmsted Manor! We put aside our every-day jobs and welcome the fantastic Emmanuel Entee from to come and share with us for the week! His teaching had a huge impact on our community and it's hard to put into words all that God did during this time! We are so thankful to be able to come and receive from God all together as a team - this quote in particular really struck us and challenged us to be more intentional with our day-to-day spirituality!

Today we say goodbye to Queen Elizabeth II, a woman who devoted her life to the service of her nation, but also to God. As sung in the newly commissioned piece sung at her funeral, taken from the words of Romans, “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord”.

“[God] restored love and service to the centre of our lives in the person of Jesus Christ.”

These words of the late Queen Elizabeth reflect the profound way that her faith influenced the way that she led in her 70 years of service. A woman of deep integrity, she reigned with the belief that first and foremost, she served King Jesus - her saviour and ‘anchor’.

We pray for the Royal family and all who mourn our beloved Queen’s passing.
