Award for work raising awareness of Domestic Abuse

We are delighted to announce that our Mothers' Union Branch has been awarded the Gold Award for their work raising awareness of Domestic abuse and their work with victims and survivors. They are the first branch in Southwark to receive the award, and only the 13th in the UK!

Wonderful News for St Mildred’s Community Garden!

Wonderful News for St Mildred’s Community Garden! We have some wonderful news to share – St Mildred’s Community Garden has been awarded £20,000 from The National Lottery Community Fund! This fantastic grant will enable us to develop our garden even further, making it more accessible and welcoming for everyone who comes to enjoy it. One of the main aims of the project will be to improve the entrance and access from Sefton Road, making it much easier for people with different mobility needs to enter, move around and take part in the garden....

Food Bank

St Mildred's collects for the St Albans South Norwood Food bank. The collection box is in the Concourse opposite the Parish Office. We recently received the following from them: Foodbank Thanks Thank you so much for your donations to the foodbank at St Alban's Church. We have seen the need for our foodbank rise - and stay at that level - so donations are well received, especially from organisations that have given for some time, like St Mildred's. We feel motivated by the support we get from other churches, so thank you for that too! Mark Foodbank Co-Leader

We are recruiting! Our excellent choir is looking for new members in all parts, including our brilliant Junior Choir. That’s a wrap for Sing, Sow & Grow in 2026!

As we hang up our gardening gloves for the winter, we wanted to say a huge thank you to all the Sing Sow & Grow gardeners and their grown-ups who have joined us this year for our adventures in the garden!
It’s been a lovely first year of singing, storytelling, digging, planting, exploring leaves, discovering wriggly worms, pumpkins and that plants and bulbs that sleep and rest over winter, will flower and sprout in the spring.

A big thank you to our wonderful team — Maree from Musical Bumps Croydon, along with our St Mildred’s Community Gardeners Leander, Kath and Karen — for bringing so much fun, laughter and enthusiasm to every session!

We’re now taking a little winter rest, but the seeds of some lovely memories (and a few real seeds!) have been planted. We can’t wait to welcome you all back in Spring 2027 for more nature, singing, stories, big discoveries and new gardening adventures!

St Mildred’s is delighted to be part of Open Spaces 2026!

We’re thrilled to have been chosen by local artist Marie Alice Phillips as a venue for the Visual Arts Association’s Open Spaces 2026 — a global art trail bringing art into everyday spaces.

The Space Between is a collection of abstract paintings exploring emotional resilience, adaptation and recovery.

Marie has been part of the St Mildred’s wider community for over 16 years, and in appreciation of the church’s role in local life, 20% of all artwork sales will be donated to St Mildred’s Church.

Join us at St Mildred’s from 2nd–16th November 2026 to discover Marie’s collection and enjoy art in a welcoming community setting.
