Crowland Abbey

Crowland Abbey Crowland Abbey provides something for everyone whether your interest lies in architecture, history, religion, legends or people.

There is a large free car park and the grounds and Abbey itself are dog friendly. Crowland Abbey is steeped in history and legends. An abbey has stood on the site since 716 and some remaining parts date back to Norman times. The original north aisle of the monastery church is intact (now the parish church) and ruins of the original Nave enable the visitor to imagine its original splendour. Whether

your interests lie in architecture, history, the church, or people you will find something here to interest you. Guides are usually available who will tell you of the history and stories associated with the building and an interesting visitor centre has recently been introduced. Self-guided tours are available and, if you are bringing children, let them try our children’s trails/quizzes that will keep them entertained.

Join Peterborough Community Orchestra (PCO) for a carefully curated programme of music, written by a dozen different composers.

This season's concert has a really summery feel, including both well known pieces and some you may not have heard before.

We strike off with Bizet's, Overture from Carmen. There's George Gershwin's Summertime, Ketlebey's, In A Monastery Garden and also Theme From A Summer Place, from the world of film. We have well known favourites featuring oboe and clarinet. There's an exciting march and a popular 'jazz waltz'. We will also be presenting the perennially popular, Pictures At An Exhibition by Modest Mussorgsky.

Over fifty enthusiastic members, whose ages range from 14 to 90 plus comprise a truly mixed ability orchestra, ably lead by ambitious conductor, Charlie Westbrook.

Tickets are available online from https://www.ticketsource.com/pco-concert

If you are unable to buy online, please call the orchestra treasurer on 01733 211313 (answerphone) and they will arrange physical tickets for you. Cash only.
