Abbatial Requiem – A Choral Concert in Memory of Fr Stephen Ortiger OSB at Worth Abbey, English Benedictine Monastery, 22 November, 7.15pm.

The Worth Society presents the première of Julian Gairdner’s new work, Abbatial Requiem, alongside a selection of other choral pieces performed by Vox Cordis and the Worthian Singers. This concert brings together musicians, alumni and friends of the Abbey to celebrate Fr Stephen’s memory through the beauty of sacred music.

The concert will support The Fr Stephen Ortiger Bursary Fund and our Lourdes Pilgrimage.

Today, we celebrate the Feast of St Maximilian Kolbe, who reminds us that true discipleship is rooted in self-giving love. His willingness to endure suffering sprang from complete trust in Christ and a desire to serve others. We may never face such sacrifice, but we are called each day to offer compassion and generosity to those in need. By putting others before ourselves, we become witnesses to the Gospel and bearers of God's hope.

Today, we celebrate the Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord.

We pray that all the faithful of our Diocese will experience a moment of transfiguration, where they see Christ's glory revealed. May this revelation inspire them to bring the Good News of Christ's life, death and resurrection to everyone they meet. Amen.

The high point of Tuesday on our diocesan Lourdes Pilgrimage was Mass in the Underground Basilica, with the Anointing of the Sick.

Hotel and Accueil groups, which form our pilgrimage "families", gathered together as the priests anointed sick pilgrims on the head and hands, praying: "Through this holy anointing, may the Lord in his love and mercy help you with the grace of the Holy Spirit. May the Lord who frees you from sin, save you and raise you up."

Let us pray for all the sick of our Diocese, here in Lourdes and at home.

At 10am on Wednesday, all our Lourdes pilgrims will gather for Mass at the Grotto. It is a great privilege to be able to celebrate Mass in this holy place where Our Lady appeared and St Bernadette knelt to pray the Rosary with her.

Let us pray that we, like St Bernadette, we may be open to everything that Our Lord, through Our Lady of Lourdes, may ask of us.

Monday, the fourth day of our diocesan Lourdes Pilgrimage, saw our diocesan pilgrims obeying Our Lady's command to wash in the water from the spring, during the Water Gesture liturgy and adoring the Eucharistic Lord in the Blessed Sacrament Procession. Many pilgrims also prayed the Stations of the Cross and received the Sacrament of Reconciliation. A blessed and beautiful day!

Today, Tuesday, at 2pm, the whole of our Lourdes pilgrimage will gather for Mass with Anointing of the Sick in the Underground Basilica.

Many sick pilgrims from our Diocese will be anointed and the healing which flows from this anointing is a closeness to Jesus who will sustain them with his love as an uncertain future unfolds.

Let us pray for all the sick of our Diocese, that God may comfort them in their suffering and keep them close to Him always.
