A&B Redshirts Legacy page! For all the latest news from the Lourdes Pilgrimage, including our Redshirts, follow . Lourdes is a place that changes people.

The Redshirts programme exists to lead young people in the Diocese to an encounter with Jesus. Since 2004, nearly 600 young people from all over the Diocese have experienced what it means to be a Redshirt. We are a group of young people from school years 10 and 11 who, led by a fantastic and committed team of young leaders, share a life changing experience. One of the best things about the Redshir

ts is the friendships that are made through our time together. The sense of community and openness of the group is commented on every single year – anyone is welcome, and everyone is accepted for who they are. During our time together, both in Lourdes and back home, there are plenty of opportunities for games, building friendships, prayer, discussion, exploring, free time, a lot of laughter and the occasional ice cream! Our aim is to return home as better people and Lourdes is the perfect setting to (re)discover our faith and what it is that we believe, both as Catholics and as individuals. So if you’re interested in embarking on a journey that is guaranteed to be a whole lot of fun, help you make great friendships, help you to understand who you truly are and help you to grow in your faith then Redshirts 2017 is exactly what you are looking for!

Applications for this year's diocesan pilgrimage to Lourdes are now open on our website. 2024 will be a celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the diocesan Lourdes Pilgrimage and the 20th Anniversary of the Redshirts youth programme, both of which have helped so many people encounter God’s love through witnessing the pilgrimage vision of ‘Love in Action’.

All are welcome on our diocesan pilgrimage, especially the sick, elderly, disabled, families with young children, and all those who feel called to visit the Grotto in response to Mary’s call.

Our hope for 2024 is that new and former pilgrims may hear Our Lady’s invitation to ‘Come to Lourdes in Procession.’ To make your application, please visit our website: www.abdiocese.org.uk/lourdes/home

Helpers – Nurses – HCA’s – Dr’s - Redshirts WE NEED YOU

Applications from pilgrims requiring assistance to journey with the Diocese to Lourdes this summer are back to pre-Covid numbers – this is wonderful news, but it does mean we need lots of helpers, nurses and HCA’s to apply asap to make sure we have enough people to care for them in Lourdes.

Helping on the pilgrimage is an act of service that many of us do not get to offer during our day to day lives. Giving our time, welcome, and care to others for a week in Lourdes, can make such a positive impact on the life and wellbeing of the people we help, and ourselves. There are many ways that you can help someone, the first step is to apply!

Application Form: www.abdiocese.org.uk/lourdes/home
