St Augustine said in the Sermon on the Mount we find the perfect standard for Christian life.

President Harry Truman said there was no problem in the world that could not be remedied by the Sermon on the Mount.

John Stott said the Sermon on the Mount is the nearest thing to a manifesto that Jesus ever uttered.

Dietrich Bonhoeffer said that while we may try to interpret the Sermon on the Mount in many ways, Jesus knew only one - simple obedience.

We are raising funds to refurbish the church kitchen and toilets. Donations welcome at the Harvest Service in envelopes marked "REFURB" "KITCHEN" or "TOILETS".
All loose cash offerings will be donated to the Leprosy Mission.
Donations of non-perishable food items are welcome for Craigavon Area Food Bank.

SOME THOUGHTS ON WHAT'S WHAT

I do not care if you are Unionist or Nationalist.
You are welcome in our church.
I do not care if you are Loyalist or Republican.
You are welcome in our church.
I do not care if you are for parading or against it.
You are welcome in our church.
I do not care if you are a staunch Conservative or a raving Liberal.
You are welcome in our church.
I do not care if you are from this island or have moved here from across the world.
You are welcome in our church.
I do not care if you agree with me or disagree with me.
You are welcome in our church.

Galatians 3:28-29
"There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's offspring, heirs according to promise."

If you belong to Jesus, there is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, Loyalist nor Republican...
We are one in Christ.
We are Abraham's offspring.
We are children of the promise.
We are the family of God.
We are Gospel people, and that which unites us - the Lord Jesus Christ - is so much stronger and more important than that which divides us.

I will not pretend that our disagreements and divisions are trivial.
I will not pretend that tradition and trauma can simply be ignored or discarded.
I will not pretend that moving forward together is easy.

But in our church, we will choose the Jesus way.
We will choose to sacrifice for the sake of the other.
We will choose to speak the truth and to do so in love.
We will choose to see the person and not the political position.
We will choose to share with and serve one another despite our differences because we are part of a bigger and better Kingdom in which our true citizenship is held.

1 John 2:9-10
"Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates a brother or sister is still in the darkness. Anyone who loves their brother and sister lives in the light, and there is nothing in them to make them stumble."

We will not hate.
We will love.
Not some kind of wishy washy hippie "all you need is love" kind of nonsense.
We will choose the gritty, white knuckle, hard-fought, costly love of Jesus.
We will choose the strong and courageous love of seeing the "other" and calling them "brother."
We will choose to lay down our lives for your good for that is what Jesus did for ours.

I do not care who you are, where you're from, what flag you fly, or what way you vote.
I do not care if you sing the sash or the solider song.
I do not care if you are green or orange (or Black, White, Brown, or Yellow for that matter).
You are welcome in our church.
There is space for you in our family.
You may not agree with us and we may not agree with you, but you will find friendship and support here regardless.
We will love you as Jesus loves us.

So, if you don't know where you fit or where to go... you are welcome in our church.
And, if you're trying to cause trouble or division - catch yourself on, wind your neck in, and jog on... but you're welcome here too.

Be kind.
Don't be a jerk.
Jesus is better.

Harvest is nearly here... and it's going to be a special one!

We are delighted to welcome Stephen McCartney from The Leprosy Mission as our guest speaker, and the incredible Summer Madness Staff Band as our worship leaders.

There will be a special offering for the refurbishment of the church's kitchen and toilets (please use envelopes marked KITCHEN). Any loose cash offering will be donated to the Leprosy Mission. And, as always, we would encourage generous donations of non-perishables for Craigavon Area Food Bank.

We will be decorating the church on Thursday 1 October and will be accepting donations of flowers, produce, and any harvest themed items from now until then.

We're excited!
Let's be generous as we return all thanks and glory to our generous God!

We had a class morning in church with Andrew from DDYC reflecting on Psalm 78 and telling the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord…

And then straight into our annual tradition of kicking off the year at CPCyouth with a trip to Let's Go Hydro

And what a cracker day it was!

YF is back in 2 weeks and all secondary school aged young people are so welcome for food, banter, and Bible study.

Think you're a smarty pants and wants to have a bit of craic? Table quiz on Friday 2nd October... and the long awaited return of everyone's favourite round... Will it float?!

Our bathrooms and kitchen are looking a bit tired. You can help us refurbish them! There will be a special collection on Sunday 4th October at our harvest service. Donations towards the refurbishment project should be in an envelope marked KITCHEN/BATHROOM. All loose cash collections will be donated to The Leprosy Mission.
