π·π§π· A significant milestone in the life of Newmills Presbyterian Church was reached on Monday 10th November as members of the congregation gathered to mark the official ground-breaking for the churchβs new annex.
This was performed by the Moderator of the General Assembly, the Rev Dr Trevor Gribben, who joined with members of the Kirk Session, Congregational Committee, and congregation to celebrate this important step in the life of the church.
Also present were Trevor and Gary Turkington from JH Turkington and Sons Ltd, the appointed contractors for the project, architects Judith and Stuart Hamilton from Knox and Markwell Architects, Sam Preston, who has advised the congregation throughout and Vacancy Convenor for Newmills, the Rev Seamus Burke.
As part of the ceremony, the formal signing of the contract took place between the church, the architects, and the contractors β marking the beginning of the next stage in the development.
Work on the annex is due to commence in the coming weeks and is expected to take approximately one year to complete. When complete, it will provide much-needed additional space for ministry, fellowship, and outreach, reflecting the ongoing growth and vitality of the congregation at Newmills.
Please keep both the building process and the vacancy of Newmills in your prayers, and ask for Godβs guidance and blessing throughout this important time.
