Saturday 11th July 2026

Deacon Tenny Antony will be ordained to the Sacred Priesthood in the Syro-Malabar Rite on Friday 10th July in St Chad’s Cathedral.

The following day, Saturday 11th July at 12noon he will offer a Mass of Thanksgiving (in the Latin Rite) in STM, to which he has extended a warm invitation to all parishioners.

This will be a joyful moment for both Tenny and us as a Parish as we come together in thanking God for a new priest within our Archdiocese.

LOURDES PILGRIMAGE 2026
25th May - 30th May 2026

To conclude, the petitions which had been sent to Lourdes were taken and left at the Grotto. After a blessed week of faith, friendship and fraternity, we begin the journey home.

Receive, O Lord, we ask, the prayers of your people, that, through the intercession of Blessed Mary, the Mother of your Son, no petition may go unanswered, no request be made in vain. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

St Bernadette: pray for us.
Our Lady of Lourdes: pray for us.

LOURDES PILGRIMAGE CLOSING MASS
Friday 29th May 2026

Today we gathered together for our final Mass of the pilgrimage here in Lourdes. In his homily, Archbishop Bernard Longley said,

“It’s hard to believe that this is our last day together in Lourdes - and although a part of us is looking forward to seeing our homes again, yet we also feel some sadness at the thought of leaving Lourdes and saying goodbye to one another for the time being. It has been a memorable pilgrimage - not least because of the exceptional weather - and as we say au revoir to Lourdes we want to thank Our Lady for the welcome we have received here and for all the friends, new and old, with whom we
have shared these precious days.

We have shared many experiences during the last five days, and we have stored up many memories -
the things we will be able to recall over the coming years. Such memories and experiences help us to
make sense of our daily lives once we have returned home.

We are closing this year’s pilgrimage as our Lady’s month of May itself draws to a close. Today’s
scripture readings invite us to see our pilgrimage in the light of the Annunciation. The angel Gabriel
was sent by God. The Gospel makes it clear that this meeting was intended by God and the news it
conveyed came from God.

Our Lady was the first person to experience the love of the Incarnate Word of God in her own
life. Her mission was to enable that love to grow as she brought her Son into the world and as she
watched him grow to maturity. She has continued to share the love of Christ with all of us this week.

God’s loving mercy has made us pilgrims with Mary - and we don’t stop being pilgrims when we pack
our suitcases tonight or tomorrow. The experience of Lourdes has changed us again - and we must
continue our pilgrimage in our homes and our parishes. The Good News that we have received here is sending us home full of hope and joy, with the assurance that Mary will stay close to us as our
mother.”

St Bernadette: pray for us.
Our Lady of Lourdes: pray for us.

LIGHTING OF CANDLES IN LOURDES

As part of our pilgrimage we pause and come together to light candles for all those who have asked for prayers and intercessions.

This included a candle for all parishioners at St Thomas More and St Joseph the Worker; staff and pupils at St Thomas More Catholic Primary School and Bishop Ullathorne School and all students and staff at Warwick University.

Jesus, “Light from light, true God from true God.
Bernadette told us: "I saw a small young lady enveloped in light who looked at me and smiled". This light of your Immaculate Mother is the reflection of your Light, You the conqueror of evil, sin and death! You, the Risen Christ! Today I place my candle in this burner. Today or later it will burn in your presence. May it illuminate my joy, my gratitude, my thanksgiving, your forgiveness and your immense mercy. May it clear my doubts, extinguish my pain, my hurt, my suffering, my lost cause! It also symbolises my most secret thoughts, wishes and desires. May the storms of life not extinguish the flame of love! May I become like Him burning with love for You and for my brothers and sisters! You, who live and reign for ever and ever. Amen.

St Bernadette: pray for us.
Our Lady of Lourdes: pray for us.

TORCHLIGHT PROCESSION IN LOURDES
Tuesday 26th May 2026

This evening, our pilgrims joined with thousands of other pilgrims from all around the world in the Torchlight Procession in honour of Our Lady.

During the thirteenth apparition, Our Lady spoke to Bernadette and commanded her to "Go, tell the priests to come here in procession and tell them to build a chapel here." Bernadette went straight to to ask Fr. Peyramale which this wonderful new, Fr. Peyramale called Bernadette a liar and told her she must never return to the grotto, then he told her to leave. Bernadette was did not give up home and returned once again with one of the priests friends and repeated what the lady had told her, "Go, tell the priests to come here in procession and tell them to build a chapel here." Fr. Peyramale says "a chapel! a procession! poor child this is all what your stories needed" then in a sharp tone he says “ask this lady her name and when we know it we will build a sanctuary".

St Bernadette: pray for us.
Our Lady of Lourdes: pray for us.
