Rea will be a deacon in the Edgehill Benefice.

Rea is a Coventry kid who is very much looking forward to being ordained at Coventry Cathedral, as it holds a very special place in her heart. Her first job was working in the old AV room, showing tourists a film about the history of the cathedral. She met her husband, Ben, because their mothers worked together in the cathedral offices, and they were married in the Chapel of Unity before both being confirmed in cathedral services.

Rea, Ben, and their three children are looking forward to moving to Warmington and the Edgehill Churches for her curacy.

Ben will be a deacon at St Bartholomew's, Binley.

Born and raised in Coventry, Ben is deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve in a city that means so much to him.

Ben’s journey of discerning a call to ordained ministry has unfolded over the last eight years. Through its various challenges and seasons of growth, this period has deepened his reliance on God, leading to a profound sense of peace and conviction about his vocation.

He looks forward to serving the diverse community of Binley, listening to people's stories, and sharing the good news of Christ.

Rachel will be serving as deacon at St Nicholas with St Barnabas in Kenilworth. After taking some time to discern God’s call to ordained ministry, she is looking forward with excitement to this next stage of her journey.

She previously worked as a specialist dentist, treating disabled patients and supporting their access to bespoke dental care. She also taught undergraduate students at Birmingham Dental Hospital, helping to equip future clinicians with both technical skills and a person-centred approach. There are a number of skills that have proved surprisingly transferable into ministry, particularly in building trust, offering reassurance, and accompanying people through vulnerable moments in their lives.

We are pleased to announce the appointment of The Rev Canon Harry Steele as the new Director of Mission and Discipleship for the Coventry Diocesan Board of Finance.

Bishop Sophie said:

"I am delighted to be welcoming Harry to Coventry Diocese. I believe that he will bring just the right gifts and skills to help us move forward with our work here. In particular his experience of helping all different types of churches to grow and lay and ordained ministers to flourish, will be a real asset in the coming years. Please join me in praying for Harry and Zoey in this time of transition."

Meet Caroline, one of our new deacons going to be ordained on the 28th June!

Caroline’s call to ministry has been a long time in coming to fruition, having first sensed it at the age of 17. Over the years, there were several periods of considering her vocation, but for various reasons it was often placed on the back burner. God’s timing is perfect, however, and more than 30 years later, she is now ready for ordination and the ministry that lies ahead.
