Today, on Good Friday, we pause to remember the depth of God’s love shown through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross.

It is a day of reflection, gratitude, and hope. A reminder that even in suffering, there is purpose, and through the darkest moments, God is at work bringing redemption.

“By His wounds we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:5)

We invite you to take a moment today to reflect, pray, and draw near to God. May His peace and love fill your heart as we journey toward the joy of Easter.

In case anyone was wondering why the bells are going off a lot today, we’re doing some routine maintenance to ensure our clock is running on time and set to the correct time!

Our clock mechanism is from 1885 and has had some upgrades since then to utilise electricity to ensure a smooth running mechanism.

Today we enter into the holy season of Lent as we observe Ash Wednesday.

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of our 40-day journey toward Easter — a season of prayer, fasting, repentance, and renewal. As we receive ashes on our foreheads, we are reminded of our need for God’s grace and the hope we have through Christ. “Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return”, a humbling reminder that draws us closer to the heart of God.

Lent invites us to slow down, reflect, and intentionally grow in our faith. It is a time to lay down distractions, turn away from sin, and open our hearts more fully to the transforming love of Jesus.

As we begin this sacred season together, may it be a time of deep reflection, sincere repentance, and renewed joy in the promise of the Resurrection.

We invite you to join us throughout Lent for worship, prayer, and fellowship as we journey toward Easter together. Our services remain at 10:00am every Sunday but please keep an eye on here for any changes or additional services.

With proud thanksgiving, a mother for her children,
England mourns for her dead across the sea.
Flesh of her flesh they were, spirit of her spirit,
Fallen in the cause of the free.

Solemn the drums thrill: Death august and royal
Sings sorrow up into immortal spheres.
There is music in the midst of desolation
And a glory that shines upon our tears.

They went with songs to the battle, they were young,
Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,
They fell with their faces to the foe.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

They mingle not with their laughing comrades again;
They sit no more at familiar tables of home;
They have no lot in our labour of the day-time;
They sleep beyond England’s foam.

But where our desires are and our hopes profound,
Felt as a well-spring that is hidden from sight,
To the innermost heart of their own land they are known
As the stars are known to the Night;

As the stars that shall be bright when we are dust,
Moving in marches upon the heavenly plain,
As the stars that are starry in the time of our darkness,
To the end, to the end, they remain.
