At Explorers tonight we looked at Love as we started our series on the Fruit of the Spirit and made this lovely craft. We set a challenge for each child to show love to someone in the week ahead. If you have primary school aged children they are welcome to join us next Friday at 6pm.

As we continue to look back over 60 years of APEC, we’re reminded that being a church family has never been about pretending everything has been easy. The Bible is very honest and we want to be an honest Church. Our story is full of joys and blessings, but also challenges, valleys, and moments where the future felt uncertain. There were seasons of people being saved, baptisms and lives changed. There were seasons of tears, loss, and questions. Through it all, God has been faithful. In the early 1990s, our church faced one of its hardest chapters. Membership had fallen so low that it became a real possibility APEC might close its doors. Local churches prayed. The need was shared. And in God’s plan, a group of families from Church St Gospel Hall felt led by the Lord to join us. Their courage, obedience, and love kept the church alive — and slowly, new shoots of hope and recovery began to grow. We are grateful for every person who prayed, served, gave, encouraged, and carried us through seasons of rebuilding. And above all, we honour the God who never let go of this church.

Prayer for those receiving exam results today.

God of hope, be close to every young person opening their results today.

In celebration, disappointment, relief or uncertainty, remind them that they are more than the grades on a page,
and that no result can measure their worth or define their future.

Give them courage for whatever comes next, people alongside them who will listen and encourage, and hope for the path ahead.

Amen.

Celebrating 60 Years of Christian Witness in Allesley Park.

What began as a small, courageous step of faith has become six decades of God’s goodness to our community. In the mid to late 1950s, as the new Allesley Park estate was rising from the fields, a handful of young couples from Church Street Gospel Hall and Canley Community Church felt a deep, unmistakable call from God. They had just moved into the estate themselves — young families, new homes, new beginnings — and they believed the Lord was asking them to plant a Christian witness right where they lived. They had no building. No resources. Just conviction, prayer, and a willingness to follow Jesus wherever He led. Their first meetings took place in St Christopher’s School, gathering week by week to worship, pray, and open the Scriptures together. And from that humble start — a school hall, a small group of believers, and a big God — the vision grew.

By 1966, a new church building was completed on Whitaker Road, and from that moment Allesley Park Evangelical Church was born. What those young couples began has shaped generations: children taught the gospel, families welcomed, neighbours supported, and Christ proclaimed faithfully for sixty years.

Today we give thanks for their courage, their obedience, and their trust in God’s leading.

We celebrate the story He is still writing.
