Grant, we pray, O Lord, that we may attain that fullness of faith which enabled your Priests and Martyrs Saints Philip Evans and John Lloyd to welcome death with constancy and joy.

O God, who guided Saint Bridget of Sweden along different paths of life and wondrously taught her the wisdom of the Cross as she contemplated the Passion of your Son, grant us, we pray, that, walking worthily in our vocation, we may seek you in all things.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever, Amen 🙏

O God, whose Only Begotten Son entrusted Mary Magdalene before all others with announcing the great joy of the Resurrection, grant, we pray, that through her intercession and example we may proclaim the living Christ and come to see him reigning in your glory.
Who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever, Amen 🙏

SIXTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
Gospel of the Day (Mark 6:30-34)

The apostles rejoined Jesus and told him all they had done and taught. Then he said to them, ‘You must come away to some lonely place all by yourselves and rest for a while’; for there were so many coming and going that the apostles had no time even to eat. So they went off in a boat to a lonely place where they could be by themselves. But people saw them going, and many could guess where; and from every town they all hurried to the place on foot and reached it before them. So as he stepped ashore he saw a large crowd; and he took pity on them because they were like sheep without a shepherd, and he set himself to teach them at some length.

NEW TRANSLATION OF THE LECTIONARY
The Lectionary, which is the book that contains the Scripture readings for Mass and the Sacraments, is changing as part of the continuing
process of revising liturgical translations. The process began with the Roman Missal in 2011 and has continued with all the other liturgical texts.

The new Lectionary will use the English Standard Version – Catholic Edition of the Bible and the Abbey Psalter. The changes are intended to make the biblical translations more faithful to the original languages, biblical scholarship, and to provide a text for use in liturgical setting that is more proclaimable and, where appropriate, more inclusive.

The New Lectionary will come into use on the First Sunday of Advent this year. The Catholic Truth Society and Redemptorist Publications will be publishing new people’s Missals. Further information is available on their websites.

Direct your faithful, Lord, in the way of eternal salvation, which the Bishop Saint Apollinaris
showed by his teaching and martyrdom, and grant, through his intercession, that we may so persevere in keeping your commandments as to merit being crowned with him.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever, Amen 🙏
