Leafy Lane Woods

Leafy Lane Woods Leafy Lane Natural Burial Woods is owned and run by Aaron Bewley and the Team at AJB Funerals. We offer woodland burial and ashes plots within the woods.

A natural burial at Leafy Lane Woods is the ideal choice for those seeking somewhere elemental and beautiful to have a funeral and remember a loved one. Located amidst the peace and tranquility of trees and local ecology, a woodland burial ground provides a natural alternative to a traditional cemetery or graveyard. The focus is to preserve the natural beauty of the environment, protect existing w

oodland, encourage native wildlife and with the development of wildflower areas provide a habitat for insects, bees and butterflies. The three public footpaths currently located through this woodland area would not be affected, in fact
with increased biodiversity they would become a more beautiful experience for those who tread their well worn paths.

At Leafy Lane Woods, we believe you should have a natural memorial that blends beautifully with the surrounding land.

Our natural burial woods offer simple and eco-friendly ways to remember loved ones, such as native trees, bird boxes, bee hotels, bat boxes and hedgehogs homes.

Each memorial becomes part of a thriving habitat, helping the woods grow stronger year after year.

See our website for more options and prices.

You can have a beautiful funeral service in our 'Oak Service Area' of Leafy Lane Woods. The boundary of this area is surrounded by a dead hedge (no pun intended!) made by Aaron and his team by weaving branches and prunings between upright stakes. It is a sustainable and eco-friendly way to repurpose woody waste from the woods, and create a habitat for wildlife like insects and small mammals.

We think this natural screen looks amazing and gives the area a cosy feel especially with the fire pit. See the photos of an example set up at Leafy Lane Woods.

The cost of hiring the Oak Service Area for a funeral includes:

- Exclusive use of the area.
- Hay bale seating for 68 people. Standing space for an extra 150+ people.
- Two large gazebos provided.
- Staff provided to set up the space as required on the day of the service.

You can find out more about the costs here: https://leafylanewoods.co.uk/prices/

Over the last week we have been marking out the public footpaths at Leafy Lane woods with these cool little signs.

Leafy Lane Woods has three public rights of way which we have marked out in colour on our black and white map below. All other pathways in the woods are permissive footpaths.

A permissive footpath is a path on private land that the landowner has given the public permission to use, it is not a legally protected public right of way. The landowner can close the path, change its route, or set specific conditions for its use.

At Leafy Lane woods, we request that dogs are always kept on a lead. This ensures we keep the woods a respectful place for everyone.

Otherwise we wholeheartedly encourage everyone to enjoy all the pathways at Leafy Lane Woods. We especially love it at this time of year with all the beautiful colour leaves on the footpaths.

Did you know that we are members of the Association of Natural Burial Grounds (ANBG)? This is an organisation that promotes and supports over 270 natural burial grounds across the UK including Leafy Lane Woods.

This year we were runners up for the ANGB People's Award in our region and we almost forgot to tell everyone about it!🏅Yay! Thank you to all those who have used our services at Leafy Lane woods in 2024 that then submitted positive feedback about us.👍

We will be sending out feedback forms to everyone that used Leafy Lane Woods this year so they can have their say on the services they received and our staff that supported them.

You can find out more about the ANBG and see our listing here: http://www.naturaldeath.org.uk/index.php?mact=Products,cntnt01,details,0&cntnt01category=ANBG-members&cntnt01hierarchy=South%20West&cntnt01productid=1050&cntnt01returnid=95

Here is Aaron carrying out a non-attended ashes interment at Leafy Lane Woods. This is where the ashes received after cremation are buried at a permanent location offering a place for remembrance and visits by family and friends. On this occasion the family did not want to attend but chose a bee hotel as a natural memorial to go with the Rowan tree they selected. Contact us for more information if you are still unsure what to do with the ashes of a loved one.
