📢 Licensing Service – St John’s, Ivybridge ⛪️

We are delighted to share that our Interim Priest-in-Charge, the Reverend Phil D***s, will be licensed at a special Licensing Service on:

📅 Sunday 27th September
⏰ 10.30am
📍 St John’s Church, Ivybridge

This will be a special joint service, with our joint choirs coming together to sing an anthem, accompanied by Mike on the organ. 🎶

There will be no services at our other three churches that morning, so we can all come together to welcome Phil and celebrate this important occasion.

Everyone is warmly invited to join us. We look forward to seeing you there! ❤️

Please do come and support Phil as he begins his ministry with us. ⛪️✨

It seems too early to be welcoming September - especially as the August bank holiday is as late as calendrically (an actual word!!) possible. And with the glorious weather we've had all summer, it seems hard to have the autumn jobs beckoning, I think I'll ignore them for a while and have a cuppa outside, in the sunshine!!

And here are our September services:
Sunday 6th 9.30am Sung Eucharist
(Trinity 14)
Sunday 13th 9.30am Sung Eucharist
(Trinity 15)
Sunday 20th 9.30am Sung Eucharist
(Trinity 16)
Sunday 27th 10.30am Joint Service
at St John's, Ivybridge
Licensing service for Rev Phil D***s

And although technically in October
Friday 2nd is our Harvest Festival
and Supper
All welcome to service and coffee afterwards.

✨ A little moment of beauty at St Michael’s this evening… ✨

As we gathered for choir practice tonight, the setting sun streamed through the beautiful stained-glass window in our bell tower, filling the church with the most wonderful golden light.

A beautiful reminder of the peace and beauty found in our church, even during an ordinary evening of singing together 🤍

A huge thank you to John Carlson, Tony Vaughan and Justin Rees for taking on the challenging task of replacing the church flagpole.

The old flagpole had become rotten and needed removing, which was no easy job, especially high up on the church tower! Thanks to their hard work, skill and willingness to give their time, a brand-new flagpole is now proudly in place.

We’re incredibly grateful for everything they’ve done. It is through the generosity, expertise and dedication of volunteers like John, Tony and Justin that our beautiful church can continue to be cared for for future generations.

Please join us in thanking them for a job exceptionally well done and a photo of John and the old pole at the top of the tower👏⛪️

🎄 Yes… we know… it’s only July! 😄

Please forgive us for mentioning Christmas so early! We promise this is the last you’ll hear from us about it until much nearer the festive season… but we do need to get organised now!

We’re delighted to be planning Cornwood Church’s much-loved Christmas Tree Festival, taking place on:

🎄 4th, 5th & 6th December
🎄 11th, 12th & 13th December

Every year our church is transformed into a beautiful display of decorated Christmas trees, and it’s become a real highlight of the festive season. Many groups, organisations and individuals return year after year because it’s such a special event to be part of, and we’d love to welcome some new faces too.

Whether you’d like to decorate a tree, represent your organisation, or simply find out more about getting involved, we’d love to hear from you.

📅 To help us plan the layout, please let us know by Friday 1st August if you’d like to take part.

Trees can be fresh or artificial, should be 5ft or taller, and must be decorated with battery-operated lights.

As well as the wonderful displays, this year’s festival will include music, refreshments, a raffle and other festive attractions, all helping to raise valuable funds for Cornwood Church.

Thank you for helping us make this another magical Christmas Tree Festival. We can’t wait to see what everyone creates! 🎄✨

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who made yesterday’s 10K & Fun Run such a fantastic success! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️💙

Whether you ran, walked, cheered from the sidelines, bought a burger or hot dog, donated, or simply came along to support, thank you. Every single person played a part.

A very special thank you goes to our incredible volunteers. From setting up, the big clear up and marshalling the route to serving refreshments, registering runners, cooking on the BBQ and helping everything run so smoothly – this event simply couldn’t happen without your time, energy and commitment.

As many of you know, St Michael’s Church, Cornwood relies on fundraising to help keep our beautiful church open and available for everyone. Whether it’s for baptisms, weddings, funerals, community events, a quiet place for reflection, or simply being there when people need us most, your support helps make that possible.

Every pound raised today will make a real difference, and we are so grateful for the generosity of our wonderful community.

Thank you for supporting your local church. We hope to see you all again next year! ❤️⛪
