The God of the Last Minute.
John 11:21-23
Now Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died. But even now I know that whatever You ask of God, God will give You.”
Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.”
There are moments in life when heaven appears to have missed your appointment.
You prayed, and nothing happened. You called, and there was no answer.
You believed, and the situation still deteriorated.
You waited, and what you were waiting for died.
And then comes that painful sentence:
“Lord, if You had been here…” John 11:21
“Martha did not say, Lord you cannot help.”
She said, “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died.”
In other words.
“Jesus, I know You have power.
I know You love us. I know You could have prevented this. But where were You when we needed You?”
That is the cry of somebody who has experienced “divine delay.”
But John 11 reveals one of the most profound mysteries of faith:
“Jesus can arrive after your situation has died and still be on time.”
Lazarus was dead four days. The sisters had already mourned. The mourners had arrived and
the grave had been sealed.
Finally, the body had begun to decay, and every human expectation had expired.
But Jesus had not arrived too late?
No, He arrived at the exact moment when the miracle would reveal something greater than healing.
If Jesus had arrived earlier, they would have said:
“Jesus healed a sick man.”
But because Jesus arrived after Lazarus died, heaven could announce.
“Jesus is the Resurrection and the Life!”
“Sometimes God allows the situation to reach its impossible stage because He wants to reveal an aspect of Himself you have never known before.”
Hebrews 10:35-36
“Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward.
For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise:
God’s delay is not His denial.
John 11:5-6 says:
“Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus. When He heard that he was sick, “He stayed two more days” in the place where He was.”
This is astonishing.
“The Bible says Jesus loved them, therefore He stayed two more days” How?
That does not sound logical. The obvious question is, If love means responding immediately, why did Jesus delay?
“Because divine love does not merely seek to make you comfortable.
Divine love seeks to reveal Christ in you and through you.” that’s, the purpose of God’s Will.
Sometimes God says:
“I will not prevent the storm because I am going to reveal that I am Lord over the storm.”
Sometimes He doesn’t stop the process. He controls the outcome.
God may permit the clock to run out without allowing your destiny to run out.
“Your deadline is not God’s deadline.”
Your calendar does not control heaven. Your doctor’s report does not have the final word.
Your financial crisis does not have the final word.
Your human limitation does not have the final word.
Delay is not evidence of divine absence.
“There are things God is working on that you cannot see while you are complaining about what He has not done.” Amen.
Prayer Of Salvation:
You must be born again to
enjoy your victory in Jesus Christ. Please do pray the prayer below sincerely.
“Lord Jesus, Please come into my life. I accept You as my Lord and Personal Saviour. I believe in my heart You died and rose from the dead to save me. Please forgive and cleanse me. Thank You for loving me, even me, in Jesus mighty name I pray. Amen.”
