Blue Idol Quaker Meeting House

Blue Idol Quaker Meeting House Historic Quaker Meeting House. Meeting for Worship every Sunday, 10.30am. Garden open everyday. Regular open days - check events and the website for details.

The Blue Idol Quaker Meeting House, where Quakers still worship, was one of the first established after the Toleration Act of 1689. Pacifist Quakerism was in part a reaction against the turbulence and violence of the English Civil War, and was aided by the relatively recent availability of the Bible in English and the new affordability of printing. From this Meeting, William Penn sailed to found P

ennsylvania, and to lay one of the foundation stones of the Constitution of the USA. We have a Meeting for Worship every Sunday at 10:30 am for 1 hour followed by tea, coffee and cake. All are welcome. We have a children's meeting on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month. We host an Open Day every Friday 10am - 4pm from March-November. Our Open Days are a chance to explore our building and learn more about William Penn and modern Quakerism. Our garden is always open and is a wonderful place for peaceful contemplation. Meeting for Worship is every Sunday at 10.30am for about one hour.

Friends and visitors arrive from 10.15am to settle into the meeting house. There is always someone ready to greet people as they arrive.

Afterwards people stay to get to know new Friends and catch up with old Friends over a tea or coffee - outside in the garden through the warmer months.

We have a wildlife camera in the garden here πŸ¦‰ Delighted it captured this owl recently!

Other creatures we've seen include foxes, rabbits, deer and a badger. As well as pigeons and blackbirds in the mornings!

Further videos in comments.

(Don't worry if you spot it when visiting, it's set to only record at times when people are not using the garden)
