Holy Trinity Church Cookham Whoever you are, wherever you are from, whatever your background, you are welcome here, and you will always be welcome in our inclusive church.

As the people of God in the Benefice of the Cookhams, our aim is to promote and deepen the cause of Jesus Christ among the people of our communities. To this end, we strive to harness enthusiasm for faith in Jesus Christ through beautiful and challenging worship, through living lives that manifest God’s love, and through living and working together in love and fellowship.

The sun may be shining, lawn mowers humming and birds busy about their summer business, but there will nonetheless be so many people experiencing difficult and sad times in their lives set against everyone saying ‘What lovely weather we’re having’.

We dedicate this short meditation to anyone who needs a little musical and spiritual support. In particular, we offer this on behalf of all the choristers for our friend Angela, in her time of mourning for her beloved husband, Robert (Bob). Angela is a committed and lovely chorister in Alter Chorum. And when she is not singing with us, she is a stalwart member of the congregation.

“The Lord’s my shepherd, I’ll not want.
He makes me down to lie
In pastures green: he leadeth me
the quiet waters by.”

Music and prayer for those in need of some spiritual comfort.Recor...

Hello
We are excited to share that Cookham Kids Summer Camp is back this summer – running from Monday 3rd to Friday 7th August at Holy Trinity School, finishing with a Gala Concert on Friday at Holy Trinity Church!
To make this fantastic week happen, we’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join us. Whether you can help with crafts, activities, admin support, or simply bring energy and encouragement, your time will make a real difference to the children in our community.
We would be so grateful if you could also help spread the word by sharing our volunteering poster with friends, family, and colleagues.
Volunteering is a great opportunity for:
Teachers and TAs
Parents with children attending the camp (please ask us about available discounts)
Duke of Edinburgh participants
Anyone who wants to give back and be part of something meaningful this summer
Tickets go on sale this Friday, so now is the perfect time to get involved!
If you’d like to volunteer or find out more, please contact the Parish Office - we’d love to hear from you.
Thank you so much for your support, and we hope you’ll join us in making this year’s camp truly special.

I Need Thee Every Hour

Words & Music by Ann S. Hawks & Robert Lowry

Arranged by Gary W. Matthews

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II would have celebrated her 100th birthday on 21st April 2026. We offer this tribute in recognition of her deep faith and her love for trees and nature – two traits which spring readily to mind when considering her life and reign. ‘I need thee every hour’ speaks of the need for the sustenance of faith, and this performance is accompanied by views of trees in the Cookhams. Some locations will likely be obvious, but others less so. At this time of year we marvel as the leaves reappear and the countryside seems to be bursting at the seams. What better celebration for a one hundredth birthday?

We offer Rutter's 'Gaelic Blessing' in loving memory of Liz Purcell (1943-2026).

Liz was Cookham born and bred and, before moving to France in 2008, was a stalwart evening service congregation member in particular, having grown up as a member of the church her whole life.

She will be much missed by family and friends. May she rest peacefully, reunited with her beloved Bob.

The photos in this presentation are all of Cookham and Holy Trinity Church.

COOKHAM SURPRISE MINOR
Here we have for you ‘Ding-a ding-a ding’ by Greg Gilpin. This intricate carol anthem was a favourite of many congregation members and choristers over Christmas so we couldn’t let the festive season pass without a final sing.

Holy Trinity Church Choir offer this as a ‘thank you’ to our loyal team of bellringers, calling people to worship on Sunday mornings and evenings, and often coping with the cold in the tower such as the Men’s Choir endured for this recording (hence the presence of coats. It was all we could do to persuade some of them to take off their hats!)

We wish you all a very happy New Year and we look forward to our Cookham bells ringing out for all to hear throughout 2026.

“Merrily on high hear the bells ring, merrily the heavens sing.
Merrily on high hear the bells ring, o’er the earth they ding d**g ding.”

A Christmas favourite of the choristers, but suitable all year long.We offer this as a ‘thank you’ to our loyal team of bellringers, calling people to worshi...

Our biggest Crib Service ever today, with a brilliant children's nativity play, animals, mulled wine, hot chocolate, mince pies and even snow afterwards. There must have been around 500 people in church. A big thank you to everyone involved. You know who you are!

Margaret was a stalwart of Holy Trinity Church for very many years – offering her time and talents in various ways. And her husband, Rick, was a churchwarden and Verger. He kept everyone in check (or perhaps, in the case of the choir, he tried to keep them in check!). Margaret is much missed as a character within our church family and we hope that she is now at peace, reunited with Rick.

Ros was, it seemed, almost intertwined into the fabric of St. John the Baptist, Cookham Dean. Taking on countless positions of responsibility, and in the wider community, she leaves a large hole in the life of our sister church. Last year we were reliant on the hospitality of Ros and the team at St. John the Baptist in hosting our Carol Services and evening services. She, and all of them, gave us a warm and supportive welcome, for which we were very grateful. She is greatly missed, but we trust that she will shine down on all future endeavours up the hill in Cookham Dean.

On behalf of all the choristers of Holy Trinity Church, Cookham -
Happy Christmas.
