These maps are invaluable for historians and genealogists. More than 3,000 titles have been issued in this major series of reprints of Old Ordnance Survey Maps of towns throughout Britain and Ireland. Most of the maps are highly detailed, taken from the 1/2500 plans and reprinted at about 14 inches to the mile. They cover towns in great detail, showing individual houses, railway tracks, factories,

churches, mills, canals, tramways and even minutiae such as dockside cranes, fountains, signal posts, pathways, sheds, wells, etc.. Each map includes historical notes on the area concerned. We also publish a series of smaller scale Inch to the Mile maps.

I was in Huddersfield earlier this week, the first of several trips there as we prepare ten new maps for the area. They will form part of a subscription group with details here: https://www.alangodfreymaps.co.uk/huddersfield-subscription.htm Engels called Huddersfield the most handsome of the northern factory towns and some of the maps will be from the 1840s, showing the town he knew. Probably best known today for its great station but lots of other good buildings around the centre.
