ITāS A WRAP 2025
The Christmas Tree Festival aim is to open the doors of the Church and welcome the community in to share the joy, love and hope of the Christmas story through the whole weekend. The 54 trees, as everyone said, were outstanding and, although the judges and public voted for specific ones, everyone of them was truly amazing. We were lucky enough to have lots of groups come to support us including Whittonstall Community Band,Spotlight Community Theatre Productions, Red Dust Company Choir, Memory Makers, St. Patrick's Primary School Consett, The Grove Primary School as well as fabulous individual musicians and the The Biking Santas who raised over £200 for Brain Tumour Research.
Many local businesses helped us with support, which meant we could keep the event free for all to enjoy, with those who are able making a donation. Thanks to:
Tesco Community Champion, Morrisons, Gary Hall, Cooperative Funeral Care, Tiffany Rose Incorporating Gray's Flowers & Everlasting Memories, Velo Electric Bikes, Premier Insurance, Genesis trust and many more who donated to our raffle. All stars. āļø
In keeping with last year we try to keep the festival accessible to everyone and we welcomed over 50 people prior to being opened to the public.
We are especially pleased that over 120 of you offered a prayer što loved ones and pets who have died and are missed, world peace, to end homelessness and for health of family and friends. We carefully collected all the prayers up and put them on the altar on Sunday, we then prayed over each one. We pray that each person feels Godās love for them and you know he hears your prayer.
The team have reflected on all the smiling faces, over 200 baubles made, 113 letters to Santa š
š»(not all from Children), over 80 pints of milk (donated from Lanchester Dairies), most used for hot chocolate, 250 mince pies munched and over 300 biscuits.
Thank you to those who have been able to make a donation. We have made over £3600 to share between Christ Church Consett and Consett foodbank - Food4U who have said this means so much to local families this Christmas.
We have again retained £500 as a start up fund for next years event. (26th-29th November TBC)
The last thank you to āTeam Christmas Treeā including Mark Sillett (amazing lighting and sound), a wonderful team who work hard to bring joy to others. So from us to you, have a Christmas wrapped in love and know that was why a baby was born over 2000 years ago in a stable.
