We had a brilliant weekend celebrating the 135th anniversary of The Salvation Army in Connah’s Quay. With as special guest our territorial leaders commissioners Paul and Jenine Main.

Saturday we started with a BBQ for the community. It was great to see so many people come and celebrate with us.

In the evening we shared food and enjoyed a quiz together.

We topped the weekend off with our sunday worship led by the commissioners. In our meeting we remembered the people who came before us, enrolled 2 new members to our corps (church) and finished by praying for the future of the corps.

We are blessed beyond words!

Pentecost marks the ‘birthday’ of the Church.

Seven weeks after celebrating Jesus’ resurrection at Easter, we remember a particular gathering of his followers.

Extraordinary things happened – strong winds, bright flames and the ability to speak in languages they’d never spoken before! They were filled with the Holy Spirit, God’s presence with us.

This moment changed everything. Empowered in new ways, they shared the story of Jesus with others and thousands of people made the decision to join them.

They shared together and helped people in need as part of a loving community. What started that day became what we know today as church.

Today, Christians around the world celebrate the moment the Church began. Happy birthday!
