The Leaders of the Loyal Orders came together today, Tuesday, 1st September 2026, to mark the ninth annual Orange Victims Day, which commemorates the 344 members of the Orange Family murdered by terrorists.

Today, on Orange Victims Day, we pause to remember the 343 Orange Brethren and one Orange Sister who were murdered during the terrorist campaign in Northern Ireland.

Behind each of those 344 lives was a family, friends, a lodge and a community left to carry the pain of their loss.

Many were murdered while serving in the security forces. Others were targeted simply because of who they were and the community to which they belonged.

Today we remember them all, and we think especially of the families and loved ones for whom that loss remains very real.

Their sacrifice will not be forgotten.

Orange Victims Day parades taking place locally this week.

Holywood - Tuesday 1st - parading from Spafield car park at 7.30pm. Service at War Memorial.

Newtownards - Saturday 5th - service at Orange Hall at 10.30am, followed by parade.

Bangor - Sunday 6th - parading from Orange Hall at 2.15pm. Service at War Memorial.
