The National Churches Trust have updated news on our prospective award:

"We received an outstanding number of entries this year, showcasing the remarkable work taking place in churches and communities across the UK. The standard was exceptionally high, and our judges were inspired by the dedication, creativity and impact demonstrated by churches, volunteers and projects from every corner of the country.

"I am absolutely delighted to let you know that Coleraine: St Patrick has been selected as a finalist in the Church & Community Volunteer Awards.

"The finalists will now be considered by our national judging panel, made up of experts from across the church, heritage, architecture and community sectors from all four nations of the UK.

"This is a tremendous achievement. Reaching the final places you among a small number of churches chosen from an exceptionally competitive field, and is a testament to the commitment, passion and hard work of everyone involved.

The NCT's1 Church & Community Volunteers Awards are offered each year to appreciate the dedication, care and impact of the people who care for the UK's wonderful Church buildings. We are delighted to announce that the GroundForce team at Saint Patrick's has been shortlisted along with a strong group of other nominations for one of these awards.

Groundforce has been an existence for many years, and takes particular care for the Church grounds around Saint Patrick's in Church Street, Coleraine. The team meets weekly during part of the year to spend time cleaning, pruning, and generally tidying up the grounds and walls of the Churchyard. Many seasonal tasks are done by the team.

One of our longer serving members is 90 years old this year, and we thought it was a good idea to draw attention to this regular voluntary work by applying for an award. I hope you agree. Well done Graham MacDonald, here seen with his wife Jean and fellow volunteer Derek.

You are invited to come to worship God in St Patrick's Church at 10:00 or St Andrew's Church at 11:30 on Sunday 30th August.

It shouldn't surprise you to discover that you will be encouraged to reflect on your own personal error and sins, and to seek God's forgiveness as you confess them to him.
- You can expect to hear and participate in hymns that express your devotion to God and your desire to know him better.
- You may want to respond to that love by offering more of yourself to him by serving him in the community and in the church.
- Hopefully you will reach out to the people sitting near you, or standing at the coffee time afterwards, to build a friendship or two.
- But there is one important detail that is an essential. You have to be there!

St Patrick's Coleraine is hosting one final summer music events presenting Jazz. At recent events in the last year the occsional Jazz spot has been well received by the audience: This week we have a whole set dedicated to the art form.

On THURSDAY 27th August our programme is entitled Jazz at St Patrick's at 12:30 pm.
