Coldingham & St. Abbs Parish Church

Coldingham & St. Abbs Parish Church We welcome all to Coldingham Priory who want to worship God and learn more about Him and what it mea Andrew Haddow, and linked with nearby Eyemouth Parish.

The Church of Scotland Parish of Coldingham & St Abbs is under the charge of Rev. The two congregations of Eyemouth and Coldingham & St Abbs share a common vision for our happily linked parishes. The linkage has been in place now since 1986. The parish of Coldingham & St Abbs is situated in the South East of Scotland 8 miles north of the border with England. Our Parish’s economic life is character

ised by the industries of tourism, agriculture and fishing and other marine activities. The coastal village of St Abbs with a population of around 120 has a small harbour and continues to enjoy a strong community spirit. The harbour has a lifeboat station and it is still used for fishing for crab and lobster though most of the small boats now take recreational divers out to explore the marine reserve. Many of the cottages are holiday homes so the emphasis is now on tourism. Coldingham lies 1.5 miles inland from St Abbs and has a population of around 700. Coldingham’s residents are largely permanent though there are some holiday homes and two caravan parks. There is a popular ‘blue flag’ beach at Coldingham Sands. The coastline north of St Abbs has high cliffs and belongs to the National Trust for Scotland. It is a popular tourist area both for bird watchers and walkers.

**CHANGE OF SUNRISE SERVICE VENUE - PLEASE SHARE**

Hello folks, just a wee message to say that due to the weather warning we have taken the decision to move the 6.30am Sunrise service to the Eyemouth Parish Church as we don't really want blown away from the memorial wall tomorrow! If the weather clears sufficiently we'll be outside the church, otherwise inside for our short service to celebrate the risen Christ. Hopefully see you there.

Not exactly our usual Good Friday service. But amazing as part of it to be able to baptise two young men who have been coming along to church recently and felt ready to take the next step on their faith journey. What a privilege to do this on Good Friday and to be witnessed by the churches together as we gathered to celebrate Jesus' sacrifice on the Bantry in Eyemouth. Join us on Easter Sunday morning at 9.30am in Coldingham Priory to celebrate Resurrection Day!

While Saturday nights are normally busy preparing for our morning Sunday services, spare a thought for the poor folk at Stonehenge! Don't forget to change your clocks though or else you'll be late for our service (or turn up just in time for tea and coffee whichever suits you!) Also remember our service tomorrow will be in St. Abbs at the Ebba Centre and Old School Cafe at 9.30am (British Summer Time!) no service in the Priory.

Happening now. Coffee morning in the priory till 11.30 this morning.

We were so pleased to welcome around 45 people to our event last weekend. An interesting afternoon, with lots of firsts for lots of people! Some played to lead singing when they never expected they could, some were encouraged to try new aspects in their playing (pedals and reharmonisation), some gave advice and teaching tips for the first time and some have signed up for organ lessons. A momentous day in many ways!

Well done the Royal College of Organists for running this yearlong project, and huge thanks to all who made the day happen. We look forward to our next event with Coldingham Primary School in October.
