🌬️ One evening. Three pathways inward.

Begin with Caroline’s grounding breathwork and gentle movementβ€”a warm, supportive invitation to soften tension, quieten the noise and reconnect with yourself.

Eran will then guide you through Yoga Nidra, allowing your attention to turn gently inward as the body moves into deeper release and relaxationβ€”preparing you to receive the sound journey that follows.

From this place of stillness, Annalika will immerse the room in the finely tuned tones of Alchemy crystal singing bowls, the powerful resonance of Grotta Sonora gongs and the earthy rhythm of shamanic drums.

We’ll close the evening by sharing nourishing homemade soup and fresh breadβ€”a moment to return gently, connect and enjoy the company of those who have shared the journey with you. ✨

β€œThe only way to experience true wellbeing is to turn inward. This is what yoga meansβ€”not up, not out, but in.”
β€” Sadhguru

At the Dhamma Centre, we practise togetherβ€”but each person is invited to listen to their own body, follow their own breath and move at their own pace.

No competition. No need to be perfect. Just a welcoming space to soften, breathe and remember that you are already enough. 🌿

🌿 Meet Elise Johnson, our Qigong teacher

Elise began studying Prenatal Energy Qigong with Master Chen Yan Feng at Guangzhou University Hospital in 1988. A founding member of the Shiatsu College London, she has spent decades teaching this gentle, traditional practice.

Through soft, flowing movements, natural breathing and mindful repetition, Elise helps students explore the many benefits of Qigong, including:
✨ Greater calm and relaxation
✨ Improved balance and coordination
✨ Gentle mobility and body awareness
✨ Deeper, steadier breathing
✨ Reduced tension and a more grounded mind
✨ Support for overall physical and emotional wellbeing

Her carefully paced classes welcome complete beginners and experienced practitioners alike. Movements can be practised standing or adapted to suit individual needs.

Deeply grateful to have Ajahn Amaro visit the Dhamma Centre. The conversations went deep, but somehow he made it all feel light and easy β€” nothing over your head, just wisdom shared in the most down-to-earth way. Warm, funny, endlessly kind, and yet you never forgot you were in the presence of a real master. Lots of laughter, lots of warmth, and a feeling of togetherness that stuck around long after everyone went home.

A big thank you to the people who made the day happen:

Eran, for pulling the whole thing together, Wendy Bailey, for hosting Ajahn at her residence for lunch and moderating the discussions on the day so masterfully.

Ambalika & Randhir, for driving Ajahn around on the day
Nicky, Alessandra & Manisha, for keeping Ajahn well looked after with refreshments.

Max Anderson, for the gorgeous photos that’ll keep this day alive for us for a long time to come

And thank you to everyone who came along and made it what it was. 🌿

Day Retreat with Ajahn Amaro in Colchester

Ajahn Amaro β€” abbot of Amaravati Monastery, ordained by Ajahn Chah in 1979, a monk for over forty-five years β€” is joining us for a full day of practice. He teaches without ornament: clear, warm, often funny, never making the path sound more complicated than it is.

A whole unhurried day together: morning meditation, a Dhamma talk, the traditional offering of the meal, lunch, and questions and answers before a closing blessing.

New to this? You won't be the only one. No chanting you must join, no posture you must hold β€” chairs are fine, and watching is a complete way to take part.

There is no ticket. In this tradition the teaching is offered freely, as it has been for twenty-six centuries. Come as you are. Donations to support the space always welcome
