On 4th Sun of the month there is a joint service at either Codnor, Marehay or Waingroves

THIS SUNDAY 31st MAY at 11.00 pm
This Sunday our service is called [email protected] and we do not have a visiting preacher so we will be having a more informal gathering around tables with hymns and discussion led by one of the stewards.
We usually start off with a tea or coffee and then this time will have hymns pre chosen by members of the congregation interspersed with the talk and discussion.
The hymns will be projected onto the big screen along with the music

HELP
WE ARE IN AN EXISTENTIAL CRISIS
And if we are to continue as a church and social venue at the centre of the village we need your help and commitment.
At present the few of us that are left are in our late 70s or early 80s and no longer able to meet the demands of running the building.
Combined with this the numbers of people attending the worship services and our coffee mornings and any social events has seriously declined.

We have recently lost the services of our organist / pianist but are are able to provide music / songs via videos

At present the building is used as follows:-
Sunday at 11.00 Worship Service
Monday 2.00 Open Door – Ladies group
Tuesday 10.30am Coffee Morning
Tuesday Rainbows and Brownies
Wednesday 10.00 Chair exercise class
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday once per month are meetings by Codnor WI, U3A and the Trefoil group.
Saturday 10.30am Coffee Morning

BUT the building is primarily a Methodist Church and if the services fail to continue then the building closes with the attendant loss of its use for the other events.
Is there anything we can change / modernise that would attract you to worship here e.g. time of service, the type of songs, less formality, etc.

You are and have always been assured of a warm welcome here.
Your input on the way forward would be most welcome.

Our next film afternoon is on Wednesday 4th March at 2.00pm. All are welcome to come along and includes ice cream 🍦This event is free, although donations are always welcome. 😊 we have enjoyed Mrs Harris goes to Paris,Ladies in Lavender and other popular films. Why not come along and join us. 😊
