​Well, we definitely weren't expecting a "White Easter" this year! It is freezing out there with this surprise snow, but it was so good to see the church full this morning despite the slush.

​The altar looks absolutely beautiful with all the flowers, and seeing the kids’ faces when they got their Easter eggs was definitely the highlight of the morning. 🍫❄️

Happy Easter from OHR!

Take a look at how beautiful the altar looks today. There’s something so special about seeing the cross draped in white and the room full of lilies—it really feels like the weight of the week has lifted.

It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces (and some new ones!) at service this morning. Whether you’re heading home for a big family lunch or just enjoying a quiet afternoon of reflection, we hope your day is filled with that "He is Risen" kind of joy.

💔 A HISTORIC END TO AN ERA: TODAY IS THE LAST DAY OF OUR HOLY REDEEMER’S AS WE KNOW IT 💔

​Today, the 31st of March, marks a truly devastating milestone for Clydebank. After 125 years of faithful service as the Mother Church of Catholicism in our town, Our Holy Redeemer’s (OHR) officially ceases to exist as its own independent parish.

​It is heartbreaking to see such a significant, historic building and community treated this way. While this feels like an ending, please know that the work to protect our heritage is only just beginning.

​🛡️ PROTECTING OUR LEGACY:
We are working tirelessly to ensure that the funds and substantial legacies left specifically to OHR are spent ONLY on OHR. These were gifts of "good faith" from parishioners who loved this church, and we will not allow them to be absorbed into the debts or structural failings of another building.

​⚖️ THE FIGHT CONTINUES:
This is a long process, but we are taking every step possible to hold the Archdiocese accountable:

​THE VATICAN: Formal objections have been submitted to Rome to initiate hierarchical recourse.

​OSCR: We are in contact with the Charity Regulator regarding the protection of our parish assets and legacies.

​HERITAGE & PLANNING: We are working with Historic Environment Scotland and the Local Authority Planning Department to ensure the standard of upkeep for our historic building is strictly met.

​OHR has stood for generations, and we believe its story isn't over yet. We are fighting to ensure that the dignity of our "Mother Church" is respected, and that the resources meant for her sanctuary are used for her sanctuary.

🚨 THE FACTS THE ARCHDIOCESE WANTS YOU TO IGNORE 🚨
Unfortunately comparisons continue to be drawn so I am forced to address them directly.

​So, you’ve been told that Our Holy Redeemer’s (OHR) has far fewer parishioners? That St Margaret’s has three times as many? That OHR is being "subsidised" by our sister parish?
​Well... the data says otherwise. ⛪️💪

​As we approach the April 1st merger, we’ve completed a 20-week audit that proves OHR is a a living vital part of the Catholic community in Clydebank. Check out the truth:

​📈 SUNDAY MORNING HEAD-TO-HEAD:
When you compare the Sunday morning Masses at both churches, OHR draws 42% of the total congregation. Despite St Margaret’s having a more convenient 11:00 am time slot, OHR is pulling in nearly half the community with its single morning service. We are a active, and vital community!

​💰 FINANCIAL VITALITY:
Our congregation is incredibly committed. On average, an OHR parishioner contributes £4.65 per head, compared to £3.29 at St Margaret’s. In fact, our single morning Mass generates MORE total revenue than St Margaret’s morning service (£7,824 vs £7,738).

​🚫 THE "SUBSIDY" MYTH:
The data proves OHR is NOT being subsidised. We are a financially vibrant, self-sustaining community with £100,000 in the bank and zero structural debt—unlike the building we are being told to move to.

​We have shared this data with the Archdiocese, our local MSP Marie McNair, Councillors, and the press. It is time the "Mother Church" of Clydebank is treated with the respect its 125-year history—and its very active present—deserves.

🍀 A Bridge Between Heritage and Home ⛪

​Today is Mothering Sunday, a day when tradition once called everyone to return to their Mother Church. For generations of families in Clydebank, that home has always been Our Holy Redeemer’s.

​As we look toward Saint Patrick’s Day this Tuesday, we are reminded of the deep Irish roots and the resilient community that built this parish. OHR was built for the people, by the people—serving Clydebank faithfully since 1888, with our beautiful current building standing strong since 1903.

​We are fighting to ensure that OHR remains open, so that decades from now, our children and grandchildren can still "return home" to their Mother Church.
