🌳 The Greening of the Parish – how buildings need to change 🏘

Thursday 22 Oct, 6pm at St Paul's Clifton - Free entry

As part of the St Paul's Eco Arts Community Hub (SPEACH) we have three fantastic speakers coming to St Paul's from 6:00-7.30pm.

Jon from Vattenfall will explain how district heating networks work, and how Bristol City Leap is developing. Vattenfall is a European energy company working for fossil freedom in the UK. It operates wind farms, battery storage, district heating and power networks, and offers energy trading and career opportunities.

Ben from the Royal West of England Academy will explain how the RWA building is greening itself.

Richard from ARUP will explain how Cambridge Uni is prioritising the decarbonisation of its heritage buildings and how that could be copied in Bristol/Clifton. ARUP is a British multinational professional services firm headquartered in London that provides design, engineering, architecture, planning, and advisory services across every aspect of the built environment.

It should be a great event, and a perfect thing to bring anyone interested from the community – local, university, climate aware churches.

Get ready for an evening that journeys from the gentle rocking of ancient lullabies and seasonal tales right to the drama of David and Absalom, the irresistible rhythms of Tippett’s African American spirituals, and the playful nonsense of Edward Lear’s The Owl and the Pussy-Cat. Along the way, hear birds returning with the spring, a young lady from Ryde, a song of sixpence, and some unexpected encounters with the animal kingdom.

This is a concert full of beautiful melodies, surprising contrasts, moving moments and a generous helping of musical mischief - including the world premiere of a brand new piece by Esther Bersweden.

Come for the lullabies, stay for the legends; keep an eye out for the lobsters!

At £1,200 p.a. this is a unique and engaging opportunity for students at UoB, UWE, or other higher education institutions in Bristol to contribute to the life of a successful church choir, take choral music to new and exciting places, and develop their performance and sight reading skills.

Our wonderful parish choir recently returned from their Summer Cathedral Tour to Ely after a week of singing services in the magnificent cathedral. We are extremely proud of all our choir do and give thanks for the skill and beauty they bring to the life of St Paul's 🎶💛
