This is our church Bible verse for this year, 2022:
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11)

For the first time in more than a year, we are meeting in our chapel on this Easter morning, to celebrate the hope of our faith, the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
"Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said." (Matthew 28:5-6)

In our Sunday morning services online, we have been praying for "God's work in God's world." This week, instead of praying for a specific country, we wanted to focus on the Bible - what it is and its impact on the world.
This short video from Wycliffe gives us a brief insight into the needs of language groups that have never read the Bible in their own language, and what this organisation is doing to combat this.

Imagine you're at a banquet but it's not food or drink - it's a Bible banquet. There are 7,099 guests representing each language of the world but at one end ...

During our time in lockdown as a church, we have been praying for different parts of the world. This morning, we focused on the work of beach mission, specifically United Beach Missions (UBM). You can find out more about their beach work, and how they're dealing with lockdown, here: www.thebeachteam.org.

Who would have thought that The Beach Team would be unable to operate on the beaches of the UK and Ireland this year? We hope to be back in 2021, but in the meantime, enjoy …..

Over the last few weeks, our Sunday morning sermons have been on Psalm 8. Today, this was summarized in three statements: the glory of God (in creation), the grace of God (showing care for everyone) and the gift of God (sending Jesus to save us).
The writer to the Hebrews in the New Testament summarises the same thing:
"We... see Jesus, who was made lower than the angels for a little while, now crowned with glory and honour because He suffered death, so that by the grace of God He might taste death for everyone." (Hebrews 2:9, NIV)

Our prayer for each other and for the church should be like the apostle Paul's prayer for the Colossians:
So we have not stopped praying for you since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you complete knowledge of his will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding. 10 Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better.
(Colossians 1:9-10, NLT)

We see Jesus, who was made lower than the angels for a little while, now crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone. (Hebrews 2:9)
Our sermon this morning reminded us that Jesus came, as a human being, to bring God's love to us: the worst of sinners, the weakest of saints and the weariest of servants.

In a time of uncertainty and anxiety, our sermon this evening gave us these words from the prophecy of Isaiah to adjust our thoughts and reassure us.
"You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, whose thoughts are fixed on you! Trust in the LORD always, for the LORD GOD is the eternal Rock." (Isaiah 26:3-4, NLT)
We're thankful too that our preacher, Alex Donnelly, was able to join us live from Peru to bring us this encouragement.
