We had a wonderful day at Blackburn Cathedral celebrating 150 years of Mothers’ Union yesterday.

There was a fabulous display of over 70 beautiful branch and deanery MU banners and diocesan and deanery exhibits including our own branch table display.

We had a great time in the children’s zone building LEGO Bible stories, decorating biscuits, making paper plate fish, having a quiet break in the reading corner and creating the children’s banner that Bishop Philip North blessed during the Eucharist service commemorating Mary Sumner Day.

The day brought together Mothers’ Union members from across the whole of the diocese showcasing the work our branches continue to do today. 150 years later our global movement empowers women, strengthens families and supports communities - we hope and pray Mary Summer’s vision lives on for many years to come.

On Sunday, Mary Sumner Day, members in each diocese in the York Province will light a candle and read our 150th Provincial Prayer at a designated hour through the day to remember and give thanks for our founder. Our hour is 4pm. Please remember to safely light your candle at this time and read the prayer together with friends or quietly by yourself. Thank you.

How beautiful is the new sign 💙

Preparations are in full swing at Mary Sumner House as we get ready to welcome visitors for a very special week of Mothers' Union's 150th anniversary celebrations!

One of the highlights? This incredible historic hanging sign from our archives, rehung to proudly mark the central offices of Mothers' Union, a wonderful reminder of our rich heritage.

From this afternoon, visitors can explore our anniversary exhibition in the Conference Hall, showcasing 150 years of faith in action and the remarkable impact of Mothers' Union members. You'll also find our pop-up shop, stocked with Mothers' Union gifts, greeting cards, branded merchandise and some much-loved favourites from previous catalogues.

If you're local to London, or travelling for our celebratory service at St Paul's or the Annual Gathering, we'd love to welcome you to Mary Sumner House. Come and celebrate our history, browse the exhibition and be part of this milestone year!

Summer Fashion Show

Tickets are now selling fast for our Summer Fashion Show hosted by NARaZUKE Boutique on Tuesday, 19 May at The Mill House Freemasons Hall 7pm for 7:30pm start. Tickets £6 each including a ‘Glass of Fizz’ on arrival. Raffle drawn on the night!

16 Days of Activism against gender-based violence.

Twenty members from All Saints’ with St James’ Altham Mothers’ Union met this evening to join with Mothers’ Union and others globally to raise awareness of, and call for an end to, gender-based violence in all forms and in all societies.

During a short vigil with quiet prayer. We created a paper chain, each link included a line from the Bible and a prayer. One link for each of the 16 days. Each person then lit a tealight candle.

Once the chain was complete we broke it to break the chains of abuse that all may live in safety.

All Saints’ Clayton with St James’ Altham Mothers’ Union had a fabulous evening at their Autumn Fashion Show at The Mill House with NARaZUKE Boutique of Padiham.

Over 80 members and friends attended the show raising money for local, national and international MU projects. Everyone enjoyed a glass of ‘fizz’ whilst the models had lots of fun on the catwalk.

Thank you to Richie, David and the staff at The Mill House for your fabulous hospitality, and to Tracy, Jenny and the NARaZUKE team and models for a wonderful event.

A big thank you to members, friends and guests for your valued support. We hope you all had a fantastic evening.
