We are delighted to share the news that we have a new incumbent coming to join us in a few months. She is the Rev Lisa Harper, who is currently serving in the Diocese of Lichfield.

This is the notice from Bishop Richard and Archdeacon Fiona that was shared in our service yesterday:

‘We are delighted that now all post-interview procedures have been successfully completed, we can
announce that The Rev’d Lisa Harper has been appointed as the next Rector of the Apedale Benefice
and Team Vicar in the Wenlock Team of Parishes.

Lisa is currently Ordained Schools Missioner and Associate Minister in the East Telford Benefice in the Diocese of Lichfield. She has served in both urban and rural contexts, has all the experience needed for the post in the Apedale Benefice and Wenlock Team, and has a deep sense of call to come and live and minister in the parishes here. The interview panel was unanimous that God is indeed calling her and was delighted when she accepted the offer of the role.

In order to fulfil existing commitments in her current post, Lisa will be moving to Hope Bowdler in mid-August 2024 and will be licensed in her new role in early September 2024.

Please join us in praying for Lisa and her current parishes as she prepares to leave them, move to Hope Bowdler, and begin her work in Apedale and Wenlock.’

We all look forward to welcoming Lisa when she comes live and work among us in the Apedale.

Due to circumstances beyond our control, the Community Consultation to start the process of seeking a new Rector for the Apedale to replace the Reverend Sam Mann, taking place at Rushbury Village Hall on Saturday 7th October, will start at 11:00am instead of 10:00am as originally planned. It will finish at 12:30.
We hope as many people as possible, whether churchgoers or not, will be able to attend.
Everyone is welcome!
Comments and thoughts about what we need in our Rector will also be accepted in written format to any of the four PCC secretaries.

Finding a new Rector for the Apedale parishes
The process for finding Reverend Sam Mann's replacement is underway and the next stage is a meeting for anyone at all in our parishes - everyone is invited.
It will be an opportunity for the community to meet to discuss finding our next Rector and is open to all. This is an opportunity to ask questions and explore an exciting new phase in the life of our church here where we all live and where we know our needs and priorities better than anyone - and also what we have to offer as a community.
This is an invitation to the whole community – not just those regular churchgoers - and the wider the attendance is, the more chance we have of finding the right new Rector for the Apedale parishes now.
So please come along on Saturday morning, October 7th at 10.00am to Rushbury Village Hall, and have your say. (If you can't come in person do please send in your questions in advance.)
We hope you can come and look forward to seeing you!

All Saints celebrated at Rushbury in a group service where all the other three of the churches of the Benwfice were represented.
Members of the choirs of Cardington and Hope Bowdler led our singing and offered a beautiful anthem during Communion itself.
Coffee/tea etc and biscuits followed.

Many thanks to all who made this sociable occasion possible.

We have today received the very sad news of the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Throughout her 70 years of service to our nation and the Commonwealth, The Queen has continually prioritised the needs of those whom she has served above her own. In doing so she has modelled the faith she held so close to her heart; a faith rooted in the teachings of Jesus Christ. Indeed, Her Majesty’s faith was an example to all faithful people.

The Queen’s leadership of the Church of England, our nation, and the Commonwealth has inspired generations, and will continue to inspire generations as they learn of her long reign.

In the Apedale Benefice, usual Sunday services will be cancelled.

Tomorrow, the 9th September, there will be a reflective service, at Hope Bowdler Church, at 6 pm

On Sunday, 11th September, there will be a service of Holy Communion in remembrance of Her Majesty, for the whole benefice, at Cardington Church at 10 am.

All Churches will remain open for private prayer and reflection, as we come to terms with this sad news.

We pray for The King, Queen Consort, the Royal Family, the Nation, and the Commonwealth.
