Darcy Jane Jackson Baptism, 6th September 2026.
Parents, godparents, family and friends gathered around the font at St Bart's today for the baptism of Darcy Jane. Parents, Chris and Charlotte and godparents, Emma, Georgina, Jack and Jason all watched on as Rev. Dr. Lesley Bentley performed the ceremony. Darcy slept through the whole process, totally unperturbed! The guests went back to Old Hoolgrave afterwards to continue the celebrations. Welcome Darcy to God's family.

Afternoon Tea at St Bart's, 16th August 2026.
Rev Lesley and John Bentley invited everyone to afternoon tea at the church and the weather was perfect. Lesley and her helpers served her own home made scones with home made jam and cream accompanied with tea or coffee and The Swinging Woodpeckers played throughout. A very enjoyable afternoon that raised £205 towards church funds. Thank you to Lesley, John, the helpers and all who came.

United Cafe Church - 9th August, 2026.
It was a very full service today when we chose to revisit the theme of 'I'm not okay, but I'm still here'. This looked at the problems people face in life and how they can affect you. The readings, hymns and prayers all came together to say how we have God to turn to and during the interval everyone came up with Bible passages or hymn words that give us courage and sustain us. Thumb crosses were given to everyone who came to take away with them as a prayer or meditation aid and we thank everyone for coming and making the service so special.

Cafe Church, Doubting Thomas, July 2026.
Today we looked at how relevant Thomas is to our belief and faith. We saw how his reaction to being told Jesus had risen from the dead, echoes our own mistrust in what we hear today. With so much fake news about, we tend to want proof, exactly like Thomas. During the interval we looked at what we believe without proof and we had many answers ranging from the tooth fairy to gravity, the sun rising tomorrow and love. We also met 'Dora', a new dog to our congregation and it was good to see the other dogs welcome her as much as the humans welcome all comers to our services.

Messy Church - Hospitality - 28th June, 2026.
Hospitality was our theme today at St Barts Messy Church service. We looked at the ways in which hospitality and welcoming is an essential element of our relationships both within the church community and beyond. Lesley told the bible story of Abraham and Sarah with Liz leading us in our prayers. Over drinks and cakes we made individual welcoming flags as well as a large banner.

Cafe Church - Pentecost, 14th June, 2026.
Today we explored the events of Pentecost when the promised Holy Spirit arrived on the disciples. During the interval each table did a mind map of all the things they have got from Pentecost and as you can see from the photo, there were a lot of them. We were blessed to have Audrey with us again after her prolonged health problems and the band got a round of applause for the final hymn, 'Shine, Jesus, Shine'. We finished the service by singing Happy Birthday to Richard who is a regular contributor to our services, for tomorrow. Thank you to all who came.

Messy Church - 24th May 2026
Today we remembered the first Pentecost when the Holy Spirit came to the disciples with the sound of a mighty wind and flames above their heads. We discussed how we know the Holy Spirit is still with us and then made crowns, with flames on and windmills, to show how we can't see the wind but we know it is there. We had our hymns, prayers and refreshments as usual, so thank you Liz for organising it.

Cafe Church - May, 2026. I'm not okay, but I'm still here.
Our May subject of not being okay was a tough one and had many of the congregation justifiably emotional. We looked at how we can seek comfort in our faith at times when life is tough and two videos did all the talking for us. During the interval we discussed hymns and Bible passages that help and our readings included Psalm 46, before Celia read 'Footsteps in the Sand'. The band of Tim, Richard, Bob and John B lead us in our hymns, so thank you to all who came.

Plant Sale and Art Exhibition, 1st - 4th May, 2026.
Our thanks go to all the helpers who made the sale and exhibition the success that it was. Two hot sunny days were followed by two dull cold ones, but we hope to have raised just under £5,000 when all the money is in. We appreciate all our sellers, growers, artists, bacon grillers, refreshment ladies, sweet pea specialists, Bric-a-Brac girls, setters-uppers and our faithful customers. You are all wonderful!

All ready for the Plant and Art Sale tomorrow. Thanks to all those who set it up in record time. Fantastic help all round.
