As a new school year begins, let’s pray for our schools and all those who make them places of learning and growth.

Pray for pupils, teachers, support staff and parents, for patience when things are challenging, wisdom in every decision, safety throughout the year, and encouragement when they need it most.

May this new school year be filled with kindness, confidence, opportunity and hope.

Lord, bless our schools, guide our teachers, protect our children, and strengthen every family. Amen. 🙏

🙏 CHORLEY PRAYER WALK – Tuesday 8th September 🙏

Join us at 1:00pm outside St Peter’s Church, PR6 0HP as we walk around Chorley, stopping at key places to pray for our town, community, churches and those who live and work here.

🚶 The main prayer walk will take approximately 1 hour 45 minutes, finishing outside the Hospital on Preston Road.
Please note: it is approximately a 15-minute walk back to St Peter’s Church.

For those who would like to continue, there will then be an additional 35-minute walk to Buckshaw Village, with a prayer stop to finish.

🙏 Unable to join the walk?
You are very welcome to meet us at St Lawrence’s Church, PR7 1EB, at approximately 1:50pm, where we will have an extended prayer stop.
St Lawrence’s Church will also be open throughout the day for prayer.
Come for all or part of the journey – everyone is welcome.

What if “the truth will set you free” means more than we think?

We usually hear that phrase and think, “Just be honest. Stop hiding. Be yourself.”

And sure, there’s freedom in being real.

But what if Jesus was talking about something much deeper?

Because Jesus didn’t just teach the truth. He said, “I am the truth.”

That changes everything.

Maybe the freedom we’re looking for isn’t just freedom to say what we think, do what we want, or live life on our own terms.

Maybe it’s freedom from the things we’ve become trapped by.

The guilt we carry.
The need to be liked.
The habits we can’t seem to break.
The comparison.
The pressure to prove ourselves.
The sin we know is slowly pulling us away from who we were made to be.

We can spend years trying to manage those things, hide them, or convince ourselves they aren’t really a problem.

But what if real freedom starts with being willing to face the truth?

Not just the truth about ourselves...but the truth about Jesus.

He doesn’t offer us a better version of the same life. He offers forgiveness, freedom from sin, and a completely new way of living.

So maybe the question isn’t simply, “Am I being true to myself?”

Maybe it’s:

“What if the Truth I need isn’t something I find within myself, but Someone I need to know?”

Jesus said, “The truth will set you free.”

And He wasn’t talking about an idea.

He was talking about Himself.

🙏 Pray for the next generation

As schools, colleges, churches and groups begin to start back, let’s pray for our children and young people.

Pray for their mental wellbeing, friendships, education, families and opportunities, and for the pressures and challenges they face each day.

Pray that they would know they are loved, valued and never alone. Pray for wisdom, courage, protection and hope, and for the adults around them to be sources of encouragement and support.
