Michael's Wood Natural Burial Ground in a place of peace and tranquility, abundant with wildlife including badgers, deer, hare and many birds. The fringe of the wood is a dense screen of Hawthorn and Blackthorn, while the interior is dotted with a variety of native trees including Horse Chestnut, Yew and Hazel around open areas where wild grasses and flowers abound with butterflies in summer. ael's Wood Natural Burial Ground is an environmentally friendly, cost effective alternative to traditional funerals, cemeteries and graveyards. All religions and cultures are accommodated for full burials, interment of ashes or scattering of ashes, for humans and animals. Michael's Wood is registered as a member of the Association of Natural Burial Grounds (ANBG) the professional body that supports the natural burial movement. The ANGB code is pre-requisite for membership and ensures that the public can have full confidence in the integrity of Michael's Wood and the quality of services being offered. This beautiful wood forms part of the Cholderton Estate, an accredited organic farm. All interments must therefore comply with our terms and conditions which ensure that graves are in keeping with the natural environment, thereby preserving the delicate ecological balance. Unfortunately, we have noticed a high number of non compliant items popping up on graves at our wood recently. We have decided we will be doing a Sweep on Wednesday 1st March, to remove all of these items. They will be held for 2 weeks only, if anyone would like to collect their items. Alternatively, you could go up before Wednesday and remove them yourselves

Advanced notice of Maternity Leave - 1st April 2023

As I am counting down the single figure weeks until my little cub is due, I will be starting to slow down from now until the big day!

So meets at the wood have now stopped, and we are encouraging families to come up and walk around on their own to choose a spot then send us the what 3 words location. I will continue to do Burials and Ashes with the help of Adam, until I can't manage anymore. So you might still see me waddling round over the next few weeks.

My last full day will be 31st March and Maternity leave will start 1st April 2023. I will still be monitoring the email inbox as normal while I am on maternity leave, but please bear with us if you don't get a response right away as for the most part Adam will be holding down the fort. If your email is urgent please label the subject box with urgent and we will look at it as soon as possible.

I will let you know of any other updates as and when we have them

🌳 This years trees have been delivered! If you visit over the next few days you will see the tree stakes in the ground ready for planting over the next week! 🌳

December 2022 update❄️

Friday 23rd December will be our last fully functioning day over the Christmas period. Only emails will be monitored until 3rd January when we return to normal. If you have an urgent query over this time please label it as urgent, give us a brief description of what it is and a number to contact you on and we will call you to discuss.

As with every year, our burial ground will be open to visitors throughout the Christmas and New Year Period. Please remember that conditions under foot and in the car park may be slippery and uneven, so please stay safe and remember to wrap up warm!

We understand the Christmas Holiday can be difficult especially if you have lost loved ones this year. We just want to wish you all a peaceful Christmas shared with people you love and remembering all our absent loved ones. Here's to happier times in 2023!

Unfortunately, we have noticed a high number of non compliant items popping up on graves at our wood recently. We have decided we will be doing a Sweep on Friday 6th May, to remove all of these items. They will be held for 2 weeks only, if anyone would like to collect their items.
