🎻 MEET THE ISLA STRING QUARTET 🎻

Ahead of their candlelit concert at St Anne’s Church on Saturday 17 October, we asked the members of the Isla String Quartet to tell us a few things you might not know about them…

🇯🇵 Mio Takahashi – violin
Mio was born in Japan and moved to London when she was three. She began violin at four, inspired by her older sister. Away from music, she loves dogs, karaoke in Japan, and her 14-year-old schnauzer-poodle, Muffin. 🐶🎤

🎻 Kynan Walker – violin
Kynan grew up in Birmingham and actually started out on piano. He switched to violin after discovering that the violin teacher at school gave out sweets at the end of lessons! 🍬 His Shetland sheepdog, Isla, provided the quartet with its name. He also loves reading and searching out the perfect coffee. ☕📚

🎨 Sofía Gómez Alberto – viola
Born in Spain and raised in Morocco, Sofía started violin at four before taking up the viola during her undergraduate studies. She loves crafts and drawing illustrations of friends and mystical creatures — some of which you can spot on her viola case!

🎮 Danushka Edirisinghe – cello
Danushka grew up in Loughborough in a musical family and often played with his older brother, a pianist. When he isn’t playing cello, you might find him watching cricket or playing Pokémon on his Nintendo Switch. He also has quite the household: two cats, Nova and Zora, and a dog called Luna! 🐈🐈🐶

Come and hear all four of them perform by candlelight in the beautiful surroundings of St Anne’s Church, Bowden Hill, Lacock.

🎶 Recorded live at St Anne’s 🎶

We were delighted to recently welcome local singer-songwriter Luke Gittins to St Anne’s Church to record a series of live sessions from his new EP.

The first of those sessions, ‘For A Lifetime’, is out now — and we think St Anne’s looks and sounds rather beautiful! ⛪️🎸

It’s wonderful to see the church’s special atmosphere and acoustics being used in this way, and to be able to support a talented local musician.
