Revd Peter Mallinson took today’s service. Father Peter focused on the 12 apostles in the Gospel reading. Twelve is also a dozen. He drew a parallel to the Dirty Dozen movie: men whom the world did not hold in high regard were chosen and with the right moulding from an unconventional leader, they succeeded in their difficult mission.

Jesus is also.an unconventional leader who picked 12 ordinary men with no specific qualifications for an unprecedented mission. Jesus even said the mission would be like sheep going into the midst of wolves.

Today we are the current “dozen” for Jesus. The dangers are not as big as for the apostles, but our faithfulness is required. Ordinary people are called to share the Gospel.

It was really good to have Father Peter with us!

We were so blessed to have Benedict Tanner play the organ at St Stephen’s Church yesterday. He is SO talented and brought out fantastic sounds from our organ. The event was well attended and we raised good funds for our coffers. The amount is to be confirmed but it is well over £200. We wish Benedict all the best in his studies come September and wish him all success in his musical future.

If you were unable to attend, or would like to hear Benedict play again, he will be performing at the Chichester Cathedral Lunchtime Concert on 7 July 2026 at 1:10pm.

Café Connect Coffee Morning in aid of St Wilfred’s Hospice
What a wonderful morning we had at the café on Thursday 11th June. Thanks to generous donations, we enjoyed 12 homemade cakes, a selection of hot drinks, and a raffle. The atmosphere was friendly, warm, and welcoming. In previous years, we raised money for Macmillan, but our team — Lynn, June, Doris, and Annette — felt it was important to focus on supporting our local hospice this year.
A huge thanks and gratitude to all those who played a part in making it such a successful event. We look forward to seeing you all again next year.
I will let you know how much was raised once the total is confirmed.
Finally, I would like to give a massive thanks to June, Doris, Annette and Chrissie! Without them these events would not be able to take place.
Many thanks.
Lynn

Benedict Tanner will be giving a recital on the organ in St Stephen's Church, North Mundham on Saturday 13 June 2026 between 3pm and 4pm.

Benedict began his musical training at the age of six, learning the violin and piano. A year later he joined the choir of St. Paul's Cathedral, where he started learning the organ. During his time as a Music Scholar at Rugby School, he featured in two Choral Evensongs on BBC Radio 3, once as an organist and once with a performance of his choral composition, Those Who Wait for the Lord. Benedict is currently the Organ Scholar at Chichester Cathedral and, beginning in September 2026, he will study music at Oxford University as the Organ Scholar at New College.

The St Stephen’s Church organ is a two manual and pedal instrument, with mechanical tracker action. The organ was built by Messrs Wordsworth & Maskell of Leeds and installed in 1884. An electric blower was fitted in 1936. The organ was thoroughly cleaned and rebuilt in 2002 by FH Browne and Sons, Organ Builders of Canterbury.

We have on good authority that Alan Thurlow thought our organ is one of the very best in West Sussex. We have had an organ recital annually over the last few years and it is truly amazing to hear the sounds that these talented organists can bring forth. Well worth attending and we hope to see you there!
There will be a retiring collection for St Stephen’s Church's funds.

Refreshments will be served after the recital.

Date: Saturday 13 June 2026

Sunday School continued looking at Creation in Genesis, focusing on birds and sea creatures. They had a lot of fun. There was a selection of activities that the children could choose from: painting rocks to represent animals, having a race with paper ducks, mosaics of animals, and even bird watching in the garden.

Everyone enjoyed the feedback that the children gave on all the activities just before the end of the service. Lots of laughter!

Revd Canon David Nason took our Holy Communion service today. The readings this week, and right up until advent, are about "what we do", each a different aspect of our faith. Do we hear God's calling? Do we have faith to follow Him? In today’s readings we looked at:
- Abram's faith (at age of 75 God said to him “follow my words and I will lead you”). At age 100 God promises Abraham a son.
- Jewish laws require obedience to more than 600 rules and life was ticking boxes. Paul writes in Romans that it is not about ticking boxes but hearing the call and living in faith.
- Matthew proves that nobody is beyond redemption. Anyone can hear God's call and have faith.
- The leader of synagogue comes to Jesus, having faith that Jesus can heal his daughter.
- The woman who suffered from bleeding had faith that Jesus could heal her.

How are we doing in pleasing God in will and deed?

Revd David Nason led a wonderful service on Trinity Sunday today. He explained that God the Father, God the Son and Goth the Holy Spirit is one God but experienced in 3 different ways. His stole represented the trinity: Jesus the Son through the top cross, then the Holy Spirit through the dove and God the Father through the universal Jerusalem cross.God the Father is the creator God.

Jesus is God the Son, who came to earth through love (Jon 3:16), a face to face meeting with God.

God the Holy Spirit is the comforter (literally means with strength) and helps us to share our faith.

The triune God is not just an interesting theological concept, but an invitation to have a journey with God through faith. The challenge to us is to do a spiritual self-assessment.

“The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.” “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.” (2 Corinthians 13:14)
