A Retreat in Daily Life - Saturday 12 September 10am - 3pm.
Join us for our retreat in daily life. The day aims to offer time and space for retreat and silent meditation amid our lives within our local context. You are invited to stop, breathe, reflect and pray alongside others. To disconnect in order to more deeply connect to and commune with God in whom we live, move, and have our being.
The theme for the retreat is the "Practice of the Presence of God", a simple yet profound spiritual practice that has deep roots in the English heritage of spirituality. This is not about mastering complex spiritual practices but learning the gentle habit of resting in and recollecting God's presence in our daily lives in the midst of our work, relationships, and times of leisure. It is about deepening our trust that God is in us and we in God not only in times of dedicated prayer, meditation and worship, but also when we are not actively thinking of God but attending to the responsibilities, tasks and relationships in our lives.
The day will run from 10am-3pm. There will be two short addresses, prayer stations/activities, a lunchtime Eucharist, and tea and coffee in to finish the afternoon. There will also be an opportunity to speak to the retreat leader one-to-one. Participants are asked to bring a packed lunch.
The retreat will be silent other than for the addresses and the Eucharist, and participants will be encouraged to leave their mobile phones safely stored away for the duration of the retreat.
The retreat will be led by Fr Angus Reid our parish priest and Penny Mason, one of our Authorised Lay Ministers.
There is no cost to the retreat but donations are always welcome.
