Foodbag Project Update, March 2026
Here is an update from Cynthia Kelly who co-ordinates the school holiday Foodbag Project for All Saints Primary School in Runcorn. This is our chosen fundraising charity again this year.
Our distribution for half term last month was our biggest ever. We provided 33 bags feeding up to 80 children. The school has now added the nursery/preschool children to the list.

As half term was only for 5 days we provided our standard lunch bags but with Easter being a longer holiday we will be providing tins and jars as well so it will be a big one.

Barrow, can we help in a very practical way this Easter? We are appealing for donations of the following items to give to Runcorn before the school breaks up for the Easter holiday on Friday 27th March. So ideally donations need to be in church by 22nd March. We are asking for
• Tinned tuna, tinned meat, meatballs
• Tinned or packet soup
• Pasta sauce/pasta bakes
• Small Easter treats e.g., crème eggs (not normal size Easter eggs), chocolate rabbits etc.
Thank you!

Lots to tell you all tonight.

Firstly next Sunday 1 March there will be a Choral Evensong at 4pm with a visiting choir Cantores ad Portam. This choir has visited us once before for Evensong and they are fabulous. Won't it be lovely to have a sung Evensong service? everyone is welcome.

Also just to let you know that there won't be a service at 8.45 next week.

Lastly, for those who are not already aware, sadly on Thursday 26th at 11.30 you are all invited to attend the funeral service for Steve Huddleston.

Please note that our 8.45 service this Sunday 4th January has been cancelled due to the poor weather forecast, but we'd love to see you all at our 10am Holy Communion service.

Just a quick reminder that there is no service in church this Sunday 28th December but back to normal on Sunday 4th January with services at 8.45 and 10am.

There were a couple of angels in church this morning! How lovely to see our church so full for Christmas both yesterday ...

Don't forget it's our Remembrance service this Sunday which starts at the later time of 10.45. Hope to have a full church.

two very special services coming up over the next couple of Sundays.

This Sunday 2nd November, as well as our monthly 8.45 Holy Communion service and the normal 10am service (also Holy Communion) we have our annual All Souls Service at 4pm. This is a quiet, reflective service where we remember loved ones who have passed in the last year or indeed at any time. All are welcome, and light refreshments will be served after the service.

Then on Sunday 9th November at 10.45am (Note the time, please!) it is our RBL Remembrance Service at which we honour all those who have died in the service of our country, and in particular, people form Barrow. All donations made at this service will be sent to the Poppy Appeal to support their ongoing work with military veterans and their families. There is always a wonderful turnout for this service, so come early to guarantee a seat!

It's Harvest Festival this Sunday at St. Bart's! Join us at 10am to celebrate God's bounty. Harvest gifts will be shared between the Foodbank and our chosen charity, Foodbags (supporting families during the school holidays). And the collection will, as usual, be donated to the Addington Fund which supports the farming community. Hope to see you there.

Just to let everyone know that there will not be a service at 8.45 next Sunday 4th May, but there will be our APCM (Annual Meeting) following the 10am service.

As we enter Lent, we hope you'll join us this Ash Wednesday at 6.30 p.m. for Holy Communion (a quiet, reflective service).

Then we're running a Lent course on Tuesdays starting 11th March at 1.30 p.m. in the Millenium Rooms, led by Revd. Julian. Everyone is welcome to this Lent series - we really hope to see you all there. Refreshments will be served!
