Join us on Monday 24 August for The Missing Building - a participatory research project developed by Neuza Morais, a Portuguese architect who has lived in Chester for more than ten years.

The first half is a talk exploring what's missing from the places we live, and what those absences reveal about belonging, care, inequality and justice, with a chance to see some of the Missing Buildings and hear their stories. In the second half, you'll create your own small conceptual model and building story to take home.

No previous experience of architecture or model-making needed. 3pm. Book via chestercathedral.ticketsolve.com/ticketbooth/shows/1173668303

One week to go until the Battle of the Organs! Don't miss your chance to experience a wonderful evening of music as the Cathedral's Grand Organ does battle with our Chamber Organ and two imported digital organs.

Come and hear popular tunes arranged for these mighty instruments, along with pieces originally composed for the organ by JS Bach and others. Who will triumph?!

Proceeds of this concert will go towards the Grand Organ Restoration Fund.

The Cathedral's Refectory bar will be open before the concert, and during the interval.

📆 27 August at 7pm

The deadline for artists to apply to participate in our exhibition ‘Bound by History, Shaped by Life’ is fast approaching.

This artist-led contemporary group exhibition initiated by Cathedral of Sanctuary Artist in Residence, Kirushan Sivagnanam will take place across selected spaces within the Cathedral in January/February 2027.

The exhibition will explore how history, memory, identity, place, borders, transformation and lived experience shape the way we live and understand ourselves. It will ask how personal stories connect with wider social, cultural, political and historical narratives. “As an artist, I believe that one voice can tell an important story, but many artistic voices together can create a more powerful conversation. This exhibition will bring together artists working across different practices, backgrounds and perspectives to explore shared questions of identity, memory, belonging, place and transformation.” says Kirushan.
