💫 JAMES MADDOCK, FRIDAY 19 JUNE 💫

After our smash-hit first ever DAC show with Ian Shaw in April, we couldn't be more excited to welcome James Maddock (from New York City) to Devauden Arts Club on 19 June. James is simply an outstanding songwriter and vocalist.

After fronting the Columbia Records band 'Wood', whose debut album Songs From Stamford Hill was featured prominently on TV shows such as Dawson’s Creek, and the track 'Stay You' was also a BBC Radio 2 Record of the Week, Maddock moved from England to New York City where he still resides. His album Sunrise On Avenue C won a New York Music Award for Best Americana Album, while follow-up Wake Up And Dream ranked among the top albums of 2011 in WFUV’s (NYC) Listener Poll.

James has performed live with Bruce Springsteen, Pete Seeger, Willie Nile and other legendary figures in American music. According to radio legend Vin Scelsa, Maddock’s “heartbreakingly beautiful and exquisitely crafted” music “touches the soul.” As a songwriter, James currently has a song (“Actress”) on Gary Barlow’s new album, co-written with Barlow.

He was formerly named by Rolling Stone as the ‘man to watch’ and his songs have been featured on both mainstream US TV and Hollywood blockbuster films. Maddock is quite simply, an outstanding songwriter and vocalist. Catch him while you can.

SAFER ROADS IN DEVAUDEN! 🙌

Great news: new measures to tackle speeding are coming soon to the village.

Following a meeting with Devauden residents last April, we raised their concerns with MCC on several occasions.

I’m really pleased to see that work is now being carried out to make the village safer, including:

✅ Gateway markings at village entrances and removal of the centre line
✅ Priority narrowing near Churchfields
✅ Priority narrowing at the southwest corner of the Green, extending the pavement towards the new houses
✅ Remodelling of the junction at the north end of the Green to provide a southbound bus stop and easier crossing
✅ Speed indicator display signs at the north and southwest ends of the village

Really positive news, making the village safer for both pedestrians and drivers! 👏
