““I came to send fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled!”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭12‬:‭49‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

For God to establish His covenant with man, Fire has to be His signature of sealing it.

Before God made a covenant with Abram in Genesis 15:18 He appears in verse 17 as a smoking oven and a burning torch that passes between the pieces of carcasses of sacrifices (seen in vs 9-10).

In the standard covenant rite (Ancient Cutting-treaty), both parties would walk the bloody corridor, each taking upon himself the curse of covenant-breaking. But in this passage Abram does not move.

However in this breathtaking scene God alone moves through the pieces. The logic here is fascinating, the LORD places the entire weight of the covenant upon Himself. He is, in effect, saying, “If this covenant fails—if this promise falls to the ground—let the curse fall on Me.”

So this week as we go about our business remember that someone (King Jesus) took it upon Himself to bare the repercussions of humanity failing to keep the covenant of old and yet gave us a new cup of the new covenant to establish what the enemy has tried to steal, kill and destroy.

Come forth into freedom.
Come forth into purpose.
Come forth into the life God has prepared for you.

What looked dead is not beyond Gods power. What seemed finished is not beyond His reach. When Jesus calls, dead things come alive!
