On Friday 4th September Dr Nick Maynard is coming to Cheltenham to speak about his experiences working on the frontline in Gaza’s hospitals. Professor Nick Maynard is a leading upper gastrointestinal surgeon at Oxford University Hospitals and an associate professor at the University of Oxford. He is widely recognised for his specialised cancer and laparoscopic surgery, as well as his extensive humanitarian medical work in Gaza.
Nick has first-hand experience of working alongside heroic Palestinian doctors and surgeons to save lives in unimaginable conditions under Israeli bombardment. The word hero is sometimes overused in modern society but Professor Maynard is a humble and heroic man doing remarkable things. He gives credit to the Palestinian people who go on living in hellish circumstances, "The most heroic, inspirational people I've ever met"
