From the Revd Sally:
Dear Friends,
The year is marching on, and I hope you are enjoying the longer days and better weather.
We begin this month by celebrating our community in our Rogation service on May 3rd. Although we are not a rural community, rogation invites us to ask for a blessing for a particular place and its inhabitants to promote the common good. This year we have invited groups, clubs and businesses that are in the parish of Springfield that provide for and serve our community to celebrate and pray for them. This will be a great opportunity for us to engage with our wider community and bless them. Please support this day as outreach in our community is key for the growth of the kingdom of God.
From Ascension to Pentecost (14th -24th May) we will engage with the ‘Pray for 5’ initiative as we participate in this year’s Thy Kingdom Come, which is all about the presence of God through His spirit.
“The God who is with us in the everyday – in the joys and sorrows of life (and everything in between) and the One who, through His
spirit, longs to reveal Himself to those who do not yet know Him.
“From the story of Ruth to the story of Gideon, from the story of Elijah to the story of the early church who waited for the promised Holy Spirit to come - over the 11 days we will explore a
different Bible story each day, which demonstrates God’s transformative presence, power and love at work in the lives of people and places.
“Our hope is that as we pray for our five people, they will also experience the life changing love of God and choose to follow Him.”
Think about the 5 people that you will pray for and nearer the time I will let you know how we can support you in this mission.
Blessings
Sally Croft
