📢 Poppy knitting update 📢

Hello All Checkendon Poppy Knitters 👋

We’re having a coffee morning catch up on Saturday 16th May 10.30-12 noon in Checkendon church.

Open to everyone already knitting or not yet started. Bring your knitting (or not) and join us for a good chat.

We look forward to seeing you all and meeting some new faces. 🧶🧶🧶

Remembrance preparations are already underway at St Peter and St Paul, Checkendon where some of our congregation have started knitting and crocheting poppies for a display in Church. By November we hope to have enough for a stunning memorial.

Thank you to everyone who come to help get the church and churchyard clean and tidy for the summer. We had a great turnout, with helpers from age 9 to over 90, showing that many hands make light work.

The village community and visitors often remark on our well-kept Church, and events like these are crucial to keep on top of things. Thank you all!

Do join us for our All-Ages Service tomorrow - Good Friday - at 10.30am in the school hall at Checkendon CE Primary School .

On Sunday we will celebrate the miracle of Easter at 11am in Church - everyone is welcome!

Christmas flowers

It was fantastic to welcome so many people to our services over Christmas. From the wonderful Carol Service (see photo) via a packed-out Christingle to the serenity of Christmas morning, we celebrated and gave meaning to the Christmas season.

Thank you for being part of it, and for supporting our church and community.

Today is the First of Advent, so it's definitely not too early to start the Christmas season!

Half muffled ringing is achieved by attaching a muffle, typically made of leather, to one side of the bell's clapper. It creates an echo-like effect of alternating loud and soft sound sounds, distinct from the normal ringing and is often used for funerals and Remembrance.
