Beloved, understand that as a believer you have rights sealed contractually by the blood of Jesus. In Mark 16, Jesus speaks of the five God given rights you have as believer and your rite of passage into them. Previously, according to the order they were pronounced by Christ Jesus, we spoke about your first and second rights: to cast out devils and speak in new tongues. And now I would like to share with you insights on your third right as a believer. Your right to seize and bring under arrest diabolical spirits of darkness; this includes demon priests and prophets: your right to take up serpents.
Remember, in the book of Mark 16:16-18 KJV Jesus speaks of your rights at birth as believer. Being granted unto you from birth you do not need to do anything special to claim them. Jesus said: He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
By these sayings of Christ, understand that your rite of passage into these rights is your faith: he that believeth and is baptised shall be saved (Mark 16:16) and again: these signs shall follow them that believe in the name of the Son of God (Mark 16:17). Beloved, all you need is to believe and all these rights are yours! Hallelujah!
Your right as a believer to place serpentine spirits under arrest: to take them up! Glory to God! This is another right vital in battle, before judgment can meted out to these spirit beings they have got to be seized. That is, taken hold of and bound suddenly and forcibly . You do this by speaking God's words.
The serpent beasts of this world are like the prophets of Baal that king Ahab of Israel assembled to battle against Elijah the prophet of God (1 Kings 18). They are also the spirit at work in the beast and the false prophet we see in Revelations 19 in the times of the end. In the book of Genesis, the serpent is described as more subtle than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made (Genesis 3:1—6). These spirits have one thing in common great skill and power to deceive, to manipulate and through such lead many captive.
Know this, where there is strife there is a serpent spirit: divisions at home or disorder at the Church. Now, you not only need to pray against these and expose them in their craft; you must also take them up and destroy them in the name of Jesus. You seize them by your words spoken in faith. Just like Elijah (1 Kings 18:36—40): after he had disarmed the prophets of Baal openly through prayer, he charged the people to take them and then destroy them. You take up to destroy in the name of Jesus. And Elijah said unto them, take the prophets of Baal; let not one of them escape. And they took them: and Elijah brought them down to the brook Kishon, and slew them there (1 Kings 18:40). Hallelujah!
Do you find yourself in situations where strife is prevalent? Well, get into battle with prayer and exercise your birth right. You say: Father, I thank you for my blood bought right to take up serpents which I have as a believer in your Son Jesus Christ. Today, I execute this right to my advantage; every slithering serpent spirit of strife causing deceit and disunity in my abode, in community, in my workplaces—I bring under arrest now and I destroy them in the name of Jesus Christ (Amen).
In the book of Revelations, the Spirit of God shows to us, in detail, the end determined for the beast and the false prophet who deceived the whole world. They were seized and destroyed: taken and cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone (Revelations 19:19-21). Glory to God!
Remember, you are a soldier in the army of our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ, he has not left you defenceless. Heaven looks to rejoice at every victory you secure by acting on your right to take up serpents. He did not leave you vulnerable but empowered, strengthened and victorious. Praise God!
Paul puts it this way: Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? (As the Scriptures say, “For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.”). No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us (Romans 8:35-37 NLT).
God bless you.
