1st Carrickfergus Boys' Brigade

1st Carrickfergus Boys' Brigade The advancement of Christ’s Kingdom among Boys

The 1st Carrickfergus Company of the Boys’ Brigade is the oldest company in the East Antrim Battalion, and also holds the distinction of being one of the first 12 companies to be established in Northern Ireland. Although the exact date of its founding is not recorded, the origins of 1st Carrickfergus can be traced back to the 1889/1890 session.

Although our Anchor Boys have finished for the session our Junior and Company Sections recommence this evening for our summer programme.

Uniform is not required and tuck shop will be available as normal.

Junior Section (P4 - P6) will run from 7.00pm to 8.30pm with Company Section (P7 - S14) meeting from 8.00pm to 9.30pm.

We are keen to welcome the Boys who are changing Sections in September - our P4 Anchors into Junior Section and our P7 Juniors into Company Section - and we would encourage those parents in particular to send their Boys along.

This is very niche, but I am looking for someone who could embroider this logo (or something that resembles it) onto 2 small build-a-bear T-shirts?
Any recommendations would be fabulous!⚓️

Last Tuesday we also had the Sir Henry Inglesby Fife and Drum band in to perform some traditional songs as well as learn about the local history of Carrickfergus.

We would like to thank Sarah and Keith for helping to organise the visit.

Last Tuesday we had the amazing Shirley from the Ulster-Scots Agency come and visit our Junior and Company Section boys.

The boys greatly enjoyed learning about the history of Ulster-Scots and learned plenty of new words that they may start using.

Afterwards, the boys had the chance to try some Scottish foods including Haggis, Scottish shortbread and Irn Bru. The Junior Section were clearly our adventurous group with many of the boys tasting and enjoying the Haggis. The same could not be said for our Company Section.😄

Unfortunately Boys’ Brigade will not be running this Tuesday 3rd March.⚓️

Our Captain, Stephen, very sadly lost his mother at the weekend and her funeral will be held in our church on Tuesday.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Captain Stephen, Officer Jeremy, Officer in Charge Craig and the wider family at this incredibly difficult time.

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” – Psalm 34:18🤍

Thank you all for your understanding.
Hope x

Any guesses for what our Anchor Boys got up to last night?🥞🥞

As we tidy our cupboards and give up little treats to start Lent, we can also think about tidying our hearts.
Is there anything we could let go of — like unkind words, arguing, or forgetting to listen — so we can grow closer to God?
Lent is a special time to make more space for love, kindness, prayer, and helping others.
What will you try to clear from your heart this Lent? ✨

With Storm Chandra having now passed Northern Ireland and with conditions improving our Junior and Company Sections will run as normal tonight.

Obviously the safety of our Boys and you, their parents, remains paramount and if you have any concerns travelling this evening please stay home, and we’ll see you again next week.

‼️ Anchor Boys tonight ‼️

To save any risks to the littles and their families, Anchor Boys will not be open tonight unfortunately‼️‼️
Some of our leaders already can’t make it, and we don’t want anyone making unnecessary journies.
Stay safe and we’ll see you next week🌀☔️
